Self Close-thread.

I have thought about this for a little while, and I think people should be able to lock their Own thread. If that doesn't work, then make it so nobody can post in a thread we made.

For example, I make a thread saying "I know god exists/doesn't exist!", then theres different people (believers, atheists, etc.) flaming. If a mod isn't there, I would want to lock it, or click a button where nobody is allowed to post in my thread.

This can go on certain parts of the forums, meaning not necessarily on all forums.

 

Hmm. I guess this idea isn't too bad, I see your point.

But, I still think moderators and admins should have that responsiblity to lock threads, because what if other members don't want it to be locked, and think it's going fine?

Yeah this is a totally great idea but the downfall is well.. I can't think of any yet

 

The permission does exist for vBulletin (and to the other admins reading this who might possibly get mad at me for revealing it, it's not like vBulletin features are such a big secret), but the downfall is it'll be hard for admins to manage 10000 mod logs, and every time someone wanted to view moderator logs it would cause a HUGE table scan that would probably stuff up the server even more.

Just ask a mod to lock your thread for you.

No, I said the permission DOES exist, it's just that the problem lies with moderator logs.

 

A lot of Moderators don't have the time, or will just not look at your Pm.

 

So it’s better for the server to be put under even more strain than for one or two threads to go unlocked?

 

No, I'm saying the current System doesn't work(Pming moderators to lock threads).

Yes, there is. We've had one for a while.
