Participation Minirank Rework

Miniranks awarded for posting x amount of times in specific sections are currently dead as can be. Did you know there are currently 0 people with a Gaming General rank?

After one week, if one has not maintained their x amount of posts in the section their minirank is removed.

Sections like these being dead makes it virtually impossible to be awarded the rank unless you spam.

My suggestions is:

Increase the time limit of minirank expiry to one month. 10 posts over a month shouldn't be too hard even in a relatively dead section.

Another idea to increase incentive to post is to award the top 3 posters in each section a permanent version of the minirank each month or two. Not only would these be sought after, but they would also take a lot of work and dedication to achieve. The "Gaming General Participant" perm-rank could be something like "Gaming General Veteran" and could possibly have a gold trim.

I'd be more in favor of raising the time limit to hit the current amount of postcount in each section to 2 weeks, 1 week may be to short but a month seems like ALOT.

Tbh who cares? These minis promoted activity forever ago and they serve no purpose anymore. Nobody actively seeks out miniranks any more. I do NOT support this!

 

Just because you don't doesn't mean that new members don't either. These used to be considered really cool to get as your first minirank.

Try to think from the new users perspective, theres no reason modifying this a little so new users can enjoy their participation minirank longer is a bad thing.

Yeh admittedly when I first joined I liked to participate to keep those minis, before I could be bothered to buy minis. The second idea you mentioned sounds interesting to me and a lot more better than the first.

 

I really love this idea, as a newbie I didn't know you had to keep the same posts in the section for 1 week and then I just forgot about it. The only problem I can see here is that with all the autobumpers people have now, there will be a ton of ties in deciding the top 3 people. Other than that, I support

This site is 90% just a spam forum. Can't expect many topics to be active anymore.

 

Given the difficulty of maintaining it at times, I would be fine with a time extension.

Also, I really do think some sections should be reeled in and consolidated.
