DS vs PSP

Btw, I made this thread before the other one.. It was in the wrong section though and got deleted, so I'm reposting it.

Well, everyone seems to be arguing this one.. Which is truely better?
I have both a PSP and DS lite, so I'm not bias by any means.

In my opinion, the PSP is the better handheld. I've played it everyday for nearly 2 years now, and i only have 1 game.. Well 2 now cause i just got vice city...
Anyways, my point is; the DS is shit. I bought it to play pokemon rofl, 90 hours of playing and i havn't touched it, i regret buying the piece of junk.

Please keep biased comments to yourself in this thread,as its about the consoles, not "MY DS IS SICK CUZ I HAV UNE"


PSP PROS:

*Durable - Mines been dropped over 20 times, it also hides scratches well.

*Content - Can have hundreds of videos or movies. Also has full mp3 support and can play WMA.

*Graphics - The graphics on the PSP are fantastic, and the discs can hold 1.8gb, which is good for massive maps and graphics.

*Screen - The screens a good size.

*Expandable memory - Something the DS is lacking. (Supports upto 4gb duo)

* Internet - The psp has a nice easy to use web browser, and actually runs a modified version of firefox. It has 3 tabs.

*Joy stick - Easy to play racing games and GTA where you move a character.


PSP CONS:

*Reliability - My friends have had problems with the Joystick messing up and constantly walking in every direction. I believe this is a common problem with anything though and not entirely Sonys fault. How many stuffed xbox controllers do you have?

*???? I really can't think of anything else i dislike about the PSP... Perhaps battery life as some people say, but im not complaining. If you need more than 5 hours on your psp, buy a new battery, they're only $25 at EB.



DS PROS:

*Touchpad - Good for gameplay experience i guess, but im not that phased about it..

*Internet browser - I've heard its a bitch to use, due to having small screens... Also, would you believe this? you need to buy a $70 game catridge that I'm guessing contains a browser.. What a load of shit. PSP has it free.

*Folds up? - Pretty lame feature i guess, considering it folds to the size of a psp...

*Games - Has a large variety of games and its hard to damage them , due to being cartridge format.. However, this is outdated and only stores something like 128mb opposed to PSPs 1.8gb.



DS CONS:

*Screen - Seems small after using the PSP.

*Scratches - I had mine in a case and the case scratched the stop of it.. I don't care about scratches, as my PSP is trashed.. The touchscreen is also easy to scratch, and shows up during gameplay. (Annoying)

*Battery - To access it you need to use a screwdriver and pull a cover off.. Psp you just push a button and slide off..



Anyways, that concludes the pros and cons.
Which do you think is a better console?

PSP is for older people. Older people go on these boards, so posting here, you will get BIASED results.

I have both, and i would have to say psp is better. However, all you psp fanboys cannot disregard that the DS has outsold the psp with its DS lite and regular DS.

 

Outsold? DS will obviously sell better. Appealing to young kids who are like "Mommy i want nintendogs" = 60% of sales right there.

Also, psp - ds is like a BMW M3 and a Holden commodore. The BMW sells far less than the commodore, but is double the price.
Either way, which ones the better car? I'd be taking an m3 thanks.

The PSP has everything you could possibly want. RSS music feeds, custom backgrounds, a nice interface (jesus christ, see the DS start menu) , Looks better (although black ds's are pretty hot) , Has disks which hold gigs more than a ds cartride and loads of other stuff.

Also,for anything portable, durability is key.
If anyone here has a DS and has dropped it, or broken it, please post how, and if its not broken, how many times its been dropped.

 

I dislike Sony because they overrate things to the public. Hence I say DS.

To you saying internet is a load of shit on the DS: Why the fuck would you use internet on a bloody handheld console?

Only thing I like about the Playstation series of consoles is Final Fantasy and DMC. All the other games suck lollers.

 

Its convenient to say the least.
Its actually a very nice browser. You have a curser, flash , tabs... ect.

PSP is superior, so obviously it gets my vote. I love the interface and the games are great.

 

Ds has pathetic games, Psp ftw, you cant beat the style and design of the PSp

PSP isn't really that great hell i'd probably rather a DS i am sick of my PSP its boring, DS is crap but PSP ain't much better and as for people paying out on Pokemon games i loved em! they are acturaly a game with no end and you can have endless fun

I don't think theres any point in even asking which is better. It is so clear that PSP is better. Also you can remote link it to a PS3, so you can play PS3 games on your PSP.

 

Yeah, i got pokemon pearl and a DS.
Pearl/diamond is shit. Its not as good as any other games like ruby/saphire...
All my other pokemon games i have like 600 play hours. On this one, i have 90, and havnt played it for 3 weeks.

 

i've got both and i personally believe that the psp out performs the ds by a milestone but the thing is very little amount of the games produced for the system have any replay value and such lowers the "worth" of the system i mean if you're only gonna play a game once why bother where as the DS has very good games simple but good replay value is high but it occasionally pops a squat all over the system and ruins the gameplay experiance sonys PSP however can have a few games with very big surrounding environments such as GTA or the new Battlefront in a way making it much more worth while playing if only the battery didn't suck as bad but it's still good enough to get your moneys worth

 

I would say DS. It has more games, which are better than most psp, and it's just all around better to me

PSP has better games, better graphics. More functions too, and isn't for 8-12 year olds. But still, a lot of people still use the DS.
