What is your biggest gripe/reason you don't like/play RS3?

I'm looking at some RSPS to play. I've heard soulplay and elkoy have these features so I'm probably going to check those out and see what it's like sometime soon. I'll let you know dude

 

Please do, I've been toying with the idea of joining an RSPS for months now. The urge to play 2011 again in any capacity grows by the day.

 

Yeah I'm gonna dick around and see what feels best, then probably buy some gold from a website so I can get a partyhat and 3a and stuff

 

It's not longer the game that I enjoyed playing. The simplicity it used to have for me was a strong point for the game. Now it's a completely different game. I feel as if with RS3, Jagex have forgotten the roots of the game.

 

I dont like:
Combat System
Graphics
Items arent worth shit
If more people would play it it would motivate me more to play.

 

I'd legit pay 20/month for Jagex to release a 2011 server that wouldn't even have to be updated but that's just me.

I don't like RS3 cause it caused me to break 120 Razer Keyboards.

 

I still play it on the odd occasion but so many things bug me nowadays compared to when I was maxed/comped a few years back.

There's 6 main things which bother me the most, which are:

Minigames ~ I'm a huge minigame player and I've been through the start of the Stealing Creation scene & A lot of the Barbarian Assault scene too. I've seen clans come, become huge and have 5v5's/10v10's/20v20's etc over the years. I've seen things change and watched people quit as their minigames were literally ruined by EoC (all bows in stealing creation did 0 damage for about 2-3 years after EoC), to be replaced by others who only care for the rewards. What once used to be communities of hundreds of competitive players in each minigame is now barely in the double digits because of how poorly the situation was managed by Jagex.

Toasterscape ~ Sure I run an awful setup, but when I'm trying to kill Araxxor on the lowest settings I would like to get more than a frame every few seconds. Things aren't correctly optimised for the low spec gamers and it's getting worse every day. That shadow drake pet thing will send me into single figure fps when someone is using it and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it except ask them nicely to turn it off/dismiss it.

Microtransactions ~ I didn't mind it before but it's becoming more and more visible and every couple of days there's another promotion or whatever. I get why they do it, but it's really obnoxious.

Dailies ~ I don't want to play RS when I have to log in, do cache, big chin, daily challenge, sinkhole, joat aura, maw, crystal tree, wait until cache comes up again... then play the game. I know it's optional, but so many things feel like a waste of time when it's better to just do it as a daily.

Events ~ I enjoyed the seasonal events but this constant cookie cutter collect X of these from skilling/killing per day' events are annoying. Every week I have to toggle it to go to my currency pouch or whatever so it doesn't do anything except spam my chat. What's worse is when they randomly make it really worth doing for ironmen and I have to learn it if I'm playing on that account at the time.

Content gating ~ Most content nowadays is put behind 90+ requirements (Arc updates for example) where I know I should do it to be efficient but I can't, so I have to do something else and plan around it. Great example was trying to tick off the impling comp req with scrimshaws only to find out I can't catch them all yet, then thinking I can just use the maw for the crystal one before realising I'm not 115dg. :l

Ever since revolution the combat hasn't bothered me at all and the outfits aren't too annoying because I mostly ignore everyone else. Also if you guys want, message me and I'll drop you my RSN, there might be something we can do together since I have a lot of things I need to complete for comp cape still.

 

I didn't read anyone else's responses so sorry in advance if it's been said. Currently I still play the game on occasion and it's relatively fun when I'm doing high level PVM, but that's where the fun really ends for me. I never played runescape because it was super attention grabbing and click intensive. I loved it because I could AFK or watch netflix/play xbox while playing. Now I feel like I can't even reply to a text message without wasting my adrenaline. My favorite part about the game was always the simplicity and how there wasn't a need to be hunched over spamming abilities giving it no divide. Yes, I could play in legacy combat but it's slower and puts you at a disadvantage.
On another note, I could get passed all that but the community just isn't what it once was. I could walk into the most populated area and ask a question or for help and the masses of people would just completely ignore me. That probably has a lot to do with people being more active in clan chats than public, but at the same time I thinks its because people just don't play for the same reasons that they used to. It's all about getting the quickest & most efficient gains possible.

 

Not only has the aesthetic been completely changed irrevocably, but the community as you mentioned will forever be different.

And that's not just an RS3 thing, I hate the OSRS community for the most part as well. So toxic and annoying.

 

I stopped playing like 8 years ago because they started making dumb items and made to many quest mandatory for good items. I liked how they have bronze to rune with all the same items so it's easy to keep track of. Now it's all over the place. RS07 is still great though.

 

I logged in to buy my 15 year cape and had no idea where I was. I couldn't figure out how to get to my spellbook. I couldn't even figure out how to type out in public. The people running passed me that looked like sparkling dragons wouldn't respond to me once I did figure out how. I have no idea what the game is anymore.

 

Funnily enough the 15 year cape is one of the few new items they've actually done right.

 

Personally I was too used to the overpowered gear and the ease of the game.

I played Runescape before Eoc because it was different from other games. I've never been a fan of games where your combat is dealt through keybinds and spamming 1-5.

 

I really dislike EoC and cosmetics. I'd argue that EoC is still broken because of how drop dead easy some monsters are. The combat triangle doesn't exactly come into play much when you're maging abyssal demons for the AoE abilities. As for cosmetics, it's dreadful when people wear so many particles they look like rainbow vomit.

 

EoC mainly, Jagex/RS tried so hard to become something it indefinitely is not, an ability based MMO. On top of that they've just been mindlessly pushing all these graphical updates and making the game appear more appealing to those who play other titles like Black Desert or something. Graphics aren't everything, as we can all see by the fact that OSRS is the more popular title (minus the bots). RS3 will never become a thing and in my mind RS itself was tarnished because of EoC, and will never recover unless they underwent massive backpedaling. Mind you, I actually enjoyed EoC, I already play a few games that use abilities so it didn't bother me, spend huge amounts of time in CW/SW.

Once they started with all the updates to gear and stats I lost a lot of interest.

tl;dr- Jagex pushed this game in a direction that only appealed to a minority, backed by whoever's interest in making it appear more mainstream. They failed, and RS has been reeling from the consequences ever since.

 

I know 3 servers sounds ludicrous and it'll probably never happen but I feel like literally all they'd need to do to recapture the niche crowd they lost would be to make 1-2 worlds a 2011 copy of the game. Don't even need to update it, it's popular enough to bring back a consistent playerbase, I guarantee it. I know that sadly it will never happen but there's a niche playerbase being missed out on because there is a gap between RS3 and OSRS that cannot be experienced on anything other than private servers.

 

Man trust me, people have been pleading with Jagex to do just that for years now. Jagex at this point has their heads so fucking far up their asses they can't even give the PvP community a proper Elo arena (there was a thread that was on-going for literally like probably 3 years now of debate on how to properly implement it with Mod Pi responding at least 3-4 times in acknowledgement of the thread and the requests made in it) and instead gave us an utterly shit BH remake that is already failed/dead content.

If they can't even listen to their community for something as retardedly simple as that, they'll never muster the intelligence to implement something like a 2011 server. Their entire philosophy is what's flawed and I really question whether or not the RS3 dev. team is conscience of what they've been doing to RS since EoC's implementation.

Oh well though, i've always said OSRS will eventually turn into 2011-scape some how, obviously it won't be a like-copy of it, but it'll eventually get there with similar content. OSRS' growth at some point won't allow for Jagex to simply allow it to remain on the back burner a few years from now (probably less) with regards to priority. Only reason RS3 has priority now is because of MTX and how much money if pulls in.

 

I'll try to keep this brief but I hated RS3 because EOC of course. I was so used to the classic combat style. I had known and played this game on and off since 2003 so it was a big change. Once i got integrated with the combo abilities, I had some fun bossing and making money but the overall interface still painfully confused me. All in all though, wildy pking was my thing and I worked so hard to get my main maxed so I could fully enjoy the clanning aspect. Those days were alot of fun but short lived. I was 19 when EOC released, I was pissed like many and had hoped they allocated a few worlds to preserve the old Runescape. Jagex drew the line for me when they couldn't provide that. Legacy was a cheap rip off and I had zero desire to start all over again on the 2007 servers. I think you get to an age where you understand you want to have fun playing a game and not sit for hours a day slaving away at repetitive tasks like I did for so many years to get maxed.
