    Scammer's profile link:

    Kollegah
    Olafson Birk

    Explanation of the trade: RSPSP/OSRS
How they scammed: wanted to trade me 4M for currencey on a private server, i was unwilling to do it from his rules until he got a member with $200 donator status to pm me, which obviously made me feel safer.

    Proof that it's their Skype:

at that point he logged after i gave him 4m, blocked me, his account 'olafson-birk' has been banned by a mod for ban invasion, but koogelah has to take responsibility in this trade as it was his PM that assured me.

Can you provide proof of the actual transaction taking place and proof of the scam you say occurred?

And @Kollegah you pm'd him vouching for the user?

I can only provide proof of me eventually agreeing to give him 4M first, after that he logged he ran off, i obviously wasn't expecting it and ready to screenshot as i felt very assured i was going to get the money i was due as a trusted member vouched him, but koogelah literally vouched a member who just got banned for ban ivasion? that say's it all really..

Do you have proof you delivered the 4M? Actual proof of the scam would be needed for this to be added to his ban reason.

As for the vouch, another user is not liable for the actions of another; however, the situation constituting the vouch is sketchy and I am interested in why it was given.

Not actual proof, but I think as the person got banned when i informed you of the username for ban invasion is sort of proof in own right

For the record moderators this has happened to me half a dozen times.

It would appear a certain type of scam is being used where scammers are telling livechats and bigger traders that they traded but never got a vouch, since on sites its impossible to track if someone did all the time, most sites freely will post vouches.

HOWEVER lately this type of scam has been asking sites and trusted users to PM their vouches to specific people(the victim), which the scammer is then using to basically verify their own legitimacy so the scammer is contacting the victim about a trade, then saying hey I'm trusted I'll get this big cool giant gold site owner to PM you I'm trusted, then their having the gold site owner PM the victim the vouch for them which makes the scammer look trusted, then the victim thinks the scammer is trusted and goes first to them.

Kollegah was just stupid and probably should of known better frankly, but it's definitely not just him its happening to.

It's similar to sending a poor trading PM in my eyes then anything else(except ur essentially sending a vouching PM), but its definitely not just kollegah.

I agree with that completely but when you'd go as far as Pming a random player to vouch for someone you barely know due to the fact he was "tired" so now I'm left emptyhanded and that's what the result of someone else's action is? It's quite unbelievable if he had a feeling the person was sketchy he still did it? Totally ignoring the bigger picture it was only a small amount but it's not the point.

I wasn't aware of this scam going around on Sythe. I vouched for this user based on my own experience with him. He's asked me for a vouch for past trades we've had. Since I only had a positive experience with him, it wasn't a problem for me. Afterall it was sketchy to ask for such a vouch but I didn't think anything bad of it at this specific point in time. I do feel bad for you that you got scammed by him but I only vouched for the trades we had - which were positive. We'll only learn from our mistakes and I will not be vouching via private messages anymore.

@Kollegah your carelessness has in part led to the scam, but the user in question was not being careful to begin with. As it's only 4M 07, it would great if you would (at least) partially refund him given your business; however, you are not liable by any means and you are not required to.

Netflix, you have no actual proof a scam occurred and the individual in question has already been banned for evasion. If you can put together proof of the scam itself, make another thread of PM me.

Also, I will talk with staff about implementing a new vouch stipulation (something along the lines of retroactive vouching, or vouching individuals you are not 100% are who they say they are). This would mainly be aimed at gold companies, thanks @Bus369

    Closed.
