    In my opinion

    Windows = Linux/Unix > Mac OS

I'm ready to argue my views on this, just not right now.

We are comparing OPERATING SYSTEMS, not COMPUTERS. I'm not going to sticky this thread but feel free to gravedig this as long as you have some valid point to make towards the subject of OS comparison.

Okay my reason: The only decent OS Apple has ever made was one that doesn't even run on their own technology. OSX has a BSD/Darwin kernel. Vista may look and act a bit like OSX, but the kernel is 100% purely Microsoft-coded (although the NT kernel is closely based on OpenVMS). If a company cannot create a decent operating system without using a third-party kernel then that operating system should not be considered their own work. All Apple did was throw on a fancy look and $1000 to a perfectly good FREE kernel and called it theirs. Using their logic I could build a house using someone else's blueprints, paint it a fancy color, and say I made it myself. Would that be right?

Linux isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. I consider it equally good as Windows.

I use Windows XP. Regardless of who made the kernel in OSX, Macs are the best choice for some things, mainly music and video production. Linux is alright, but windows does everything I need so I have no reason to use it.

Windows Xp here. Rarely any compatability issues, Doesnt hog your system and is user friendly. I havent used OSX before so I wouldnt know. I had experiences with linux that im not to fond of. Basicly id like to stick to windows.

For what I do, type assignments, surf the web, talk on messenger etc. Windows does what I need it to do, so it's perfectly suited for me.

We're comparing operating systems not computers. Macintosh computers can run Windows, the operating system itself cannot run Windows programs natively.

No its the Mac OS that runs windows, its call parallels. If you are talking about Boot Camp that is different.

Virtual Machines like parallels aren't the same thing, you can use Microsoft Virtual PC and VMWare on Windows (Virtual PC is free) and run OSX86 on it if your hardware can take it.

Also I hope this argument isn't getting too annoying. I just like debating this stuff.

OSX86Project is nothing like the real thing, it is has a lot of lag, no sound and I think it is hard to get the internet up for it. The one that Mac OS has is not much lag, sound and internet that is easy to use. But I would not do that because there is so much spyware and viruses for PCs. That is one of the reasons I got a mac is to get a way from scanning for spyware every day.

Everything works with Windows. That's its advantage. However, I got tired of Windows messing up/running slowly, etc. I still think it's a pretty good OS.

But, according to me, Linux is teh best. I have been totally happy with Ubuntu. Runs impeccably and has a lot of great features that neither Windows nor Mac OS includes (e.g. desktops on a cube). I haven't had trouble finding software either.

My overall solution has been to dual boot Windows and Ubuntu. I use Linux 95% of the time and save Windows for some games and other programs.

-.- SMR you stole my reasons for not liking Mac, its built of the BSD subsystem

And because at my school where I work as a tech assistant our "administrators" sometimes forget to give users unix attributes for when they connect to the schools domain, so they get a darwin shell at start instead of their pretty interface (and they are bitchy to bind to a domain too, with windows its easy as pie)

But for me I prefer to use unix/linux as a server and for clients I prefer to use Windows

I like windows because there is a lot of support and its easy to find answers to problems a user is having (if I cant fix them myself which is uncommon) and compatible with 90%~ of the software available

The reason I like linux/unix for my servers is because
    1. its free
    2. (not trying to get into hardware) it runs on almost anything with a PC architecture
    3. its really easy to learn to use it as a server if your willing
    4. the big one :security:

Linux is not the only one that has desktop cube, Mac OS always had it. Also alot of people that work at Microsoft are using Apple computers now, is that not saying any thing. Every single good movie and tv show is edited by a Mac. Windows is coach while Mac OS is first class.

Linux has never been good to my hardware needs. I always have to compile drivers myself. But it's getting better...
OSX is just commercialized BSD... why would I want? So that I could only run it on Apple computers? No thanks.
    I choose Windows.

Yeah, that's the one major problem with Linux. I can't get my printer working with Linux, and ndiswrapper doesn't cut it :\

Moved to SFA, hopefully this will grow bigger there.
