Halo 3 Forge: floating items!

So I've been fiddling in Forge mode, and I stumbled upon a neat feature.
Here's what you do...

1. Stack atleast 3 crates on top of eachother to form a tower of them (might work with 2 crates, but I haven't tried it, and I know it doesn't work with 1.)
2. Put something(s) on top.
3. Delete the crates.

Congratulations, you now have a floating item!

Note that for most things, this will only work for as long as you keep playing the same round on the same forge, and if you destroy the item by any means, it will fall when it respawns.
But fear not! Some items will stick even if you restart your 360, and will only stop floating if you move them as a monitor. These items include...
Weapon holder (thus allowing floating weapons and equipment)
Overshield, Active Camo, and Custom Power-up
Teleporter nodes
Abstract scenery (the crates for example; you can delete them from the bottom up and they don't fall (yes, defying the "atleast 3 crates" rule))
Machine Gun Turret
There may be others, but I'm not going to go through every item to make sure.

Hopefully we can see some cool map edits that use this.

Wow, I've seen threads evolve, but never from Halo 3 to slumber parties.

Anyway, I have some updates to make to the original post.
I've done some testing and discovered that...

• 2 crates work. But remember, you can jump that high.
• The majority of scenery doesn't stick, I don't know why I thought it did. You can make floating crates for the duration of the Forge, but they fall as soon as a new round begins.
• Grav Lifts (the scenery, not the equipment (equipment stays only during the Forge)) don't even float during the Forge, in fact they don't even stay on top of the crates, they fall right through.
