windows media player not working

ok my windows media player is not working when i try to watch dvds, vids, ect i can hear sound i just cant see whats happening the screen is black/purple? i dont have the slightest idea whats wrong plz help?

 

start>set programs access and default should be there

 

click the little arrow pointing down and make sure windows media players has a dot next to it

 

now i put in a disk and i get this?

Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

 

still dont work.

 

Google "windows media player codecs" or download DivX.

 

maybe you don't have correct codec for it. go to the official page and get some codec before all will be lost...(nvm) good luck
