Market Thread Titles

I know there is 13491384 suggestion threads on this issue. But still nothing has been done, are we just expected to report each thread by hand? Why are thread posters allowed to post fake rates and receive nothing for it? ALL thread posters KNOW they are false advertising but know that nothing will be done against them. Why?

Clever use of language is used in marketing, and "best rates" could mean "our best rates" / "our best this month/day/year" etc, It's too broad.

You're right if someone says "we GUARANTEE to beat all competitors", but that's a stupid way to market anyway as all it does is get people joining live chats of competitor sites to try and make them battle for the gold.

Could you be more specific about the sort of titles you believe are unacceptable, unfair or misleading?

 

Those who use the "GUARANTEE" best rates thing are also bullshit, they require stupid things like proof of payment and require the gold seller to contact the site etc and will never give you guaranteed best rates.
It's those who put in their titles "Gold Shop | $1.1/M | ALWAYS STOCKED"
You check the site, and what do you know! 07 mills are $1.3/M.

 

I also think terms like "best price" and "cheapest" should be unavailable to use by sellers unless they actually have the best and cheapest prices on the current market. If its their cheapest price than they should specify in thread titles "Our current cheapest rate". It's not marketing technique, its clickbait and lies.

 

I agree with you a lot, especially having $1.10/m on a topic and then having higher prices on their moneysite. This is not only misleading, it's manipulating site traffic.

However not a lot can be done on clickbait, as it's a well established marketing tactic in a broad sphere of niche's online.

The main issue with policing this kind of thing is the competition. More and more people are trying to start rs gold sites in attempt to mimic the success of others, when they know nothing about business and marketing. These people often do the things you have mentioned, and no matter how hard you try to moderate something like this, they will always try to find new "smart" ways to steal traffic from competitors.

 

Adding on to what @KingL1993 said, it would be a huge hassle for mods to fix people who just won't budge. If there was a stricter punishment for false advertising that might fix it, but until then mods have enough scam reports to deal with, another 20 isn't gonna help.

 

If you find someone advertising rates that do not exist, report them and their title will be edited. They are only required to offer the rates in realistic amounts.
