need help with speed of my computer plz

ok my computer has been realy slow since i got it (i did buy it off ebay) and i want to know how to make it faster.do i need more ram?i only have 256mb of ram so plz help all comments are apreciated

 

256 Ram? are you joking, you lucky you can run msn never mind anything else.

Ram is the way forward, your Processor might also be below-par

 

Yea get more RAM. I only have that much, but I'm getting 2gb in a week or two.

Whats the model number of your mobo OR what is the type of RAM you have at the moment. Please just list all of your computer specs.

ddr ddr2 ddr3 are not types of RAM there speeds. Go by this if it fits it works. hasent failed me yet.

 

lol if you still have 256mb than its prolly DDR but might wanna make sure b4 buying any. im getting 2GB this weekend yay. my current is 1Gb but Team Fortress 2 is too slow on it lol.

 

Yeah they are speeds, but considering the fact that DDR RAM isn't going to be compatible with DDR2 motherboards, to classify their speed as their type isn't the wrong thing to do. If he goes and gets DDR RAM and has a DDR2 mobo, then he's rather fucked.

it dependas on your processor to if your processor is 500 Mhz then just burn that computer...no need to get new ram. However if it is 2Ghz+ then you just have to upgrade to a newb 2gb ram or 1 gb ram that will surely fast =)

 

If you're not sure, open up the computer and take a look inside. Make sure you have extra slots to add the new memory. If you have a old beater computer it might be full already...lol While you're looking in there, you should be able to find out what type of memory you have. It should say it on the side of the memory, or you can write the product numbers down and google them.

Also, you can speed up your computer right now by removing some of the programs from startup. Click on start, click on run, type in msconfig and click ok. Click on the startup tab of the menu. You will see programs with check marks, remove all the ones of programs you don't use, most or all of the check marks. Click ok, and restart.

This will remove programs from starting up when your computer starts. The less you have loading the faster your computer boots and handles other programs in memory.... Cheers!

 

Dude you need to tell us some info. Even then if your system is outdated you'd probably be better off buying a new one.

 

I lol'd. If ram is everything and you have 500mb ram (Im guessing 512mb) and your computer is super fast, then how come 1gb ram is very common and myself i have an custombuilt computer with 2gb ram, its 2 years old too.

 

i have 1gb RAM and loads of programs that eat it away therefore isn't very fast.

I doubt your "super fast" with "500mb" which is wrong in the first place, it's 512mb
