    How big is the universe?

i do think it is infintely large, it is hard to imagine it being confined in a space. what would be outside the space. just more space, it is difficult to believe but it is the only logical size

Palencia1, such close-mindedness does not help further the cause of science.

    How big is the universe?

Well i don't think you can really ask the question "How big is the universe?", plainly because no one knows for sure , in my opinion i think it is infinite , it is impossible to escape the universe because what would we come too? Would there just be a big brick wall with a sign saying "end of universe"?
You cannot say how big the universe is but you can have a opinion to it.

    How big is the universe?

I agree, and even if this "wall" did exist and led from that point into nothingness, what brings an end to that?

As far as logic goes, there really can't be an end to the universe.

    How big is the universe?

See what confuses me is this. If the scientists say its ever expanding then it couldn't be finite. Also if its ever expanding then it cant really be infinite for the fact that if its expanding there is a point that it stops momentarily but just moves. This question has always thrown me off.

    How big is the universe?

I was thinking about this just the other day. Could it be possible that there are other "universes"? For example planents reotate around celtial bodias such as stars. Stars make up galixies, galixies make up the universe. (I think theres something smaller that galaxies make up before the universe, butback to the point.) The universe being 13.7 billion light years (based on Hubbles theory of expansion.) Could there be other "universes" out there making up something bigger...and even something beyond that? What's a trillion light years away? A quadrillion? It's near impossible to fathom and questions that I doubt we'll see answred in our lifetimes. Interesting never the less.

    How big is the universe?

My science teacher told me one day she fell off the earth and saw the whole universe and then an alien ate her and she reincarnated.

    How big is the universe?

    jebckr: look up "m theory"
    to put it simply:
think about a 2d universe. now think that someone drew a box around a person in that universe. because he is 2d, he cant get around the box, but if someone lifts him up and takes him over the box, he wont have any feeling of it, because he wont be able to comprehend it.

now imagine if there were millions and millions of 2d universes stacked up like sheets of paper, less then 1mm apart. each universe would be oblivious to the others, because they have no way of knowing they are there.

the only "interuniversal" object, if M theory is correct, are "gravitrons"

    How big is the universe?

    it is finite...
just because something is expanding doesnt make it infinite...
when you blow up a balloon, does it have an infinite amount of space in it?

    How big is the universe?

Interesting stuff. Honestly though, I can't really comprehend it. I can't comprhend space stopping, nor can I comprehend it going on infinatly.

    How big is the universe?

In my opinion we will never know ourselves for thousands of years to come. But one day the truth will be reveled to how big or small the universe could be to are estimations.

    How big is the universe?

    you sir, fail.

    also, learn to FUCKING SPELL

imo, i think the universe is an immeasurable object, (far over 14bn light years, as we can see quasars like 7bn light years away). also, i do not believe the light is boundaries for the universe, and on top of the fact its always expanding, i really couldnt tell you. except, say im this big: [_], the universe is [________________x9.5-10^900,000]

    'nuff said

    How big is the universe?

What if we built a craft that could go faster than light and then get ahead of the expanding universe and go on into nothing?

    How big is the universe?

I think the universe is finite. I hope we will ever now what is beyond the Universe. I guess there is like absolutly nothing or like another world. That is so much different then ours that we can just not image what it would look like.
