Hi all, I'm adding a link to the exact PC I bought in 2015. I don't know much about building PCs but I've figured out changing out components myself and I can take it to a buddy to fit and install stuff as necessary. I just want to give it a bit of an update to handle more new games and maybe make it a little faster if possible. All advice is welcome! https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008LZH6FI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
this thing is super over priced jesus christ. but since you don't know much and already fucked up, and you seem to have A TON of money, buy a rx 480 4/8gb and a (i suppose you like amd here) fx 8350(i can't see what motherboard you're using, but most am3+ mobos work since they all can usually support the 125w from this processor), everything else you should be good with in your current pc, could swap out the 1tb hdd for a 1tb ssd if you wanted too since you look like you have a ton to spend i don't know from the top of my head, but pretty sure the 260x =/= 750ti and the fx 4300 should be around a i3-3200 or i3-4130, somewhere in there. Those specs are god awful and are a MINIMUM low on triple A titles at maybe 30 fps, those are the specs recommended for a BUDGET build, the ones i listed on the first paragraph will easily allow you to hit 60fps on most triple a titles on perhaps high
It was cheaper at the time on a deal, I think around £630. I'm hoping to spend more like a few hundred. I'll have a look at what you said though, thanks
if you go that route, you may need a higher psu (i don't know what you currently have), but i think a 750w might suffice, might have to ask someone else on that since i don't use any amd products, but they're the best bang for your buck
Yea, in the future, don't buy bundles. That bundle is not worth much. You can always look on YouTube for cheap builds that people have tested and benchmarked. If you buy used components you could make a great pc better than yours for $150. Check out this $250 build or this $130 build. If you'd like to go even more in-depth and pick some components out for yourself, remember to check the parts on a benchmark site. For example, you CPU is 4.0 GHz o/c, but a lot of other things go into performance such as the architecture of the chip, which is hard to list as part of specs. Here's a comparison of your cpu and mine, note the similar GHz but a big difference in performance. You'll also, in general, want to avoid AMD. They aren't known for their parts other than their GPUs. And even then, you gimped on your GPU. They sold you an older model that's pretty low performance but has inflated value. You'll likely find better deals and quality such as this NVIDIA 750-Ti GPU or this AMD RX 460. It's both budget and decent-performance. At this point, you may want to construct an entirely new computer since new parts may not fit/be compatible with you motherboard. But I can't say for sure. Best of luck to you.
Just sell your PC and do a new build opposed to attempting to cherry-pick parts that will work in your build and even then you'll likely need to replace the PSU. I imagine you can do a full budget AMD build that'll make out 1080p games for $500-600. New Polaris architecture is wonderful and you can even pickup a used 980TI for a fraction of what they used to be.
