Longest Bitcoin transaction I've ever witnessed, 8+ hours wtf

So, someone sent me bitcoin today and 8 hours later, the transaction is still pending with 0 confirmations.

I'm sure someone can explain this better, but it appears the sender sent the bitcoin using a low transaction fee, which means longer confirmation times.

I found this site, Bitcoin Fees for Transactions | bitcoinfees.21.co , and from what I understand, the fee % the sender selected is the most commonly selected fee in the past 3 days and today, which means I'm in a long ass line.

Has anyone else experienced super long wait times with bitcoin today?

Lesson learned? I guess to check the Bitcoin Fees for Transactions | bitcoinfees.21.co site first and ask the sender to send the bitcoin using a higher fee? Idk im lost rn

I guess im lucky, if the sender sent the bitcoin with a lower fee the transaction could take up to infinity to complete :O My estimated time for this transaction to complete is 100 minutes, currently at 540 minutes *sigh*

 

Did you actually get it? Never had one take that long
