Enforce 'X days since last login' requirement for the sale of RS accounts

Hi all,

My suggestion is to enforce all sales of RS accounts on here to undergo a "cold turkey" period of a certain amount of days before it is deemed safe to be given to another party. So if an account (regardless of the training method) has not been logged into for 7 days, then it is considered that there is no delayed ban from Jagex at that point on the account and it is safe to hand over.

I've made this suggestion after this thread occurred - MooTrucks Account Banned

To summarise the thread above: An RS account was sold, but it was then banned for macroing shortly after it was sold and the buyer had started using it. The buyer then disputed with the seller that they had not used it for botting (it in theory doesn't add up that so much money would be spent only to risk it on botting an account), the seller denied that any botting had gone on on the account however it could very well have been a delayed ban on the account, which means there was no way to tell when the offence on the account was carried out... hence the shitstorm occurring on the thread.

Now obviously no one but Jagex know how long their delayed bans timer works out on, but I would say a week max is where you could call it safe. People who bot on / play RS regularly may be a better source of advice on this one though.

I would strongly advise this gets enforced (or at the very least, strongly advised) for all RS account trades on here.

So people can't play their account until it's sold, or move gold off of it at time of sale? Uh, no.

People aren't going to sell their stuff on here if they have to jump through hoops and now have proof they haven't played the account for X amount of time.

Like I said, if not enforce then at least strongly advise on. I doubt the staff want to go through all of that crap on Gun's thread again.

 

I would support a thread up about maybe warning users to take extra precaution when buying highly skilled accounts for a cheaper price, maybe if they feel insecure to ask the seller/trainer if they have any screenshots of the levels, but this shouldn't be a "must have".

 

No support, as ihatequesting said it would be a huge inconvenience. Honestly it's the risk you assume when buying an account. If you don't want to assume that risk then just don't buy an account. The mods would have to close so many threads

No support! The time lapse is different in all cases, this would not assist.

 

This makes no sense to me what so ever. It would only be an inconvenience and wouldn't solve any problem. As you stated, we don't know how long delayed bans can be. Selling accounts will always be a huge risk.

 

Within X days? So you guys have figured out the time scale it takes for jagex to ban people for botting? No don't turn things to shit because of gun's situation it's an isolated situation which isn't seen very often. If only you just denied his pardon.

Like I said, even if not enforce, we can at least advise and create a pinned thread to do so.

Perhaps enforcing this would be a bit too extreme, but I doubt the staff do want to go through all of that hassle that was on Gun's thread I linked in the OP. Someone could do this again but engineer it so that they get the account perm banned and manage to screw over the seller of the account in the process.

Just complicates an already complicated process and as mentioned numerous times above would be a hassle. I love the idea but I see no possible way it could be enforced/would be allowed because of all the headache it would cause.

There's no way of knowing for sure how long Jagex delays botting bans, nor do we know if there's even a method to their madness. Some delays could be longer than others, while some may not. This suggestion cannot be feasibly implemented, and due to an astronomical lack of support, I'm chalking this one up as denied.
