Whos an Immigrant?

sorry for double post, but to A Soul's Bounds... do you see why you were banned from this forum?!? Because of useless posts like that one.

 

i'm an immigrant, and idc what stereotypes surround this title, because im happy to be one, everyone deserves a better life, but i did it legally, not illegally, and i came to canada when i was 1, so im technically a canadian citizen since ive been here for more than 5 years

 

everyone was at one point. but no not all are now. simple as that

 

The only true imagrints are those who have been smuggled into decent countries in the back of chip vans etc from places such as india pakistan iraq and afganistan. G

At first we were immigrants, but if you were born here, then no you are not. I mean if you take it the way he said it EVERYONE is. Since we all came from the center of Africa in the beginning.

 

I wouldn't say that an American-born is an immigrant.

 

If you live in a multi cultured country such as United States and Canada, technically, you are not a citizen of that country even if you were born there. This is because only Natives are the citizens. However, on paper, you're a citizen if you are born in U.S. or Canada even when you're not. Now...I'm starting to think that the Natives are also immigrants because they were not born in U.S. or Canada, they were the first one to discover the land by "travelling" or "migrating". So, really, if you think waaaay baaack in the day...no one is a citizen of North America because we are all immigrants [by decedents, ancestors, or from experience].

 

So, i am a citizen but not a resident?

 

Yah our families and ancestors came from other areas of the world to live here in America so i believe all of us are immigrants maybe not literally but we did come from our parents and grandparents and so forth who probably sometime in the family tree came from another country

 

I think this debate is going to far then it should. An immigrant is exactly what the dictionary says. Someone moving from one country to another. If you were born in the country, and you still reside there then you are not one.
