    modern medicine, cure or Not?

Ok im probbly not the most of intelligent of people to try and structure this debate hence why its so short.

If we cure all disease`s such as aids and cancer, will the world not become over run, and run out of un renewable fuels and energy.

if in say africa, wich is already highly over populated had its population increased by the number of people who have died from hiv it would be grossly over populated, even more so than now causeing more country side being populated and being destroyed by human develpmont. Wild life would decrease with development completly destroying echo balance

so are these medicines and studys just makeshift anwers to a much bigger future problem?

i think the same amount of time should be put into thinking about increasing echo friendly develpment and improving quality of life if said cures are found,

    debate here

flame for spellin and so on dont care just thought id try something important for my 100th post :)

All of these problems can be solved while lives are still saved by these medicines. The problem of overpopulation can be solved my migrating to rural areas that are unpopulated today. Montana is the fourth largest US state, but is number 44 on the population list. New Jersey is ninth on the population list and 47 on the size list. If situations like these are balanced out worldwide, overpopulation could easily be dealt with.

We don't need to migrate to other areas on earth either. By the time all of those diseases are cured, we will probably have been able to start colonies in space... And don't try saying that we will never colonize space... It will happen in the near future...

Well, if you mean thats if someone believes that we've made it to the moon... I find the moon landing questionable, but I have no doubt that were in space itself :p...

Being in space, and colonizing space is a completly different thing :p. I think the modern medicine, the way it is now, is only a solution to a symptom of a bigger problem.

Another thing, it seems as if medicine costs more as medicine advances. Money is always an issue.

Not really true, colonozing space is simply making a habitat worth living in outside of the earth... being in space as I meant it, or thought was obvious how I meant it, is being alive in space. That takes some type of habitiat worth living in. In any case we could also just attempt to terraform mars...

    Believe it or not..

Seconds before I read this thread i'd been wondering the same thing.

I think the world and resources probably would be under pressure, however,
there would not be as many hospitals. Hospitals put together must take alot of energy to operate..

whether or not we cured all of these people[cancer, hiv's,etc.] we would still run out of resources due to the high demand in gasoline and others and even if these people still died, we're still reproducing and either way we're giving birth to millions of lives every day (or week idk)

With or without medicine we're still going to suffer from overpopulation, in fact we are at this very moment. But that's no excuse not to look for cures for diseases, particular ones which primarily affect the poor. Population control will be needed in the future if life on the Earth is going to be sustainable. It's not just fossil fuels that'll run out, there are mineral resources, suitable living space and arable land, things like that.
