Manhunt 2 Ban Appealed

After six whole weeks of being under fire from critics, lawyers and parent watchdog groups, Rockstar has finally made its move and appealed the ruinous ban slapped onto one of its most controversial titles to date, Manhunt 2 (PSP, Wii). We get you all the details of the company's effort to overturn the British Board of Film Classification's decision of keeping the gory title off store shelves and out of "impressionable" gamers' hands.

The appeal was submitted yesterday to the Video Appeals Committee, the only UK body that has the authority to reverse any and all rulings by the BBFC - the ruling to ban Manhunt 2 from being sold in the UK included. This came after the game was formally rejected by the BBFC on June 19th, making the gap between the ban and the appeal a total of six weeks.

So what happens next? There will be a hearing, of course, held by the VAC in a time and place not yet announced. This hearing will take into consideration both the positions of BBFC and Rockstar in the whole debacle surrounding Manhunt 2, as well as view the game in action. John Woods, VAC chairman, will be the one to ultimately decide Manhunt 2's fate.

While it certainly took Rockstar a good amount of time before taking action, yours truly feels that it's better late than never. And here's hoping that the guys over at the VAC, especially John Woods, has a more open mind than the people over at BBFC, and give Manhunt 2 a fighting chance. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well I loved the first Manhunt game, it was violent, fun, gory, and intense.
I hope they don't ban the sequel to the original game. Rockstar Games makes llike the best games don't they?

 

Ive heard of this game in my Game Informer magazine, and from what I heard Rockstar is trying to bring the rating down from Adults Only to Mature rating..Sounds like a gruesome game

 

i think it will be good game with a lot of action
i like games that are that style

 

It's very gruesome. More gruesome than DOOM 3 and the original Manhunt put together. No wonder it got an Adult's Only Rating from ESERB.

 

omg I feel like trying this game cause I liked how scary Resident evil 4 was

 

I really enjoy rockstar games, I wanna play this on Wii with a chainsaw, lawl.
