Hi- What were the issues with the bump timer? It's disabled but we're looking to turn it back on. Could someone explain what issues caused it to be disabled? Thanks.
As far as I know it was broken as in it didn't warn you when you were about to make a bump earlier than the 8 hours limit.
This would be incorrect entirely. The issue was it would count customers/ people who were not the thread owner as the thread owner and upon trying to post/vouch they would receive an error"You cant bump yet try again in x hours" this would happen more frequently if the OP or someone had just recently posted. I never saw any consistency whether the hours were counting from the last poster or thread owner's last post, it seemed to vary. @Matthew
This means it was working correctly... It doesn't just limit the thread starter, it limits anyone from bumping. So if a customer posts saying "I'll buy your stupid RuneScape crap" and then 10 minutes later tries to post saying "Thanks for not scamming me" the plugin is going to stop them because it hasn't been 8 hours. Whether it's the customer or not, it's still bumping. If the plugin only restricted the thread starter, people would just use a different account to bump and it would defeat the purpose.
We are allowed to collect vouches directly on the threads we're advertising to sell/buy on, I don't see how it could possibly be working correctly if we can't do so half of the time.... If you're going to stop people from collecting vouches directly on the market thread they're using to sell/buy on you're going to lose your edge of why people use Sythe, Free market and can direct vouches which also work as bumps directly to threads to expose their product for free. I had no problem manually reporting people who bumped too frequently which was few and far between to begin with. Also, "that stupid RuneScape crap" is why 98% of the people are on this forum, people spend thousands of dollars a month to advertise here and promote their websites/sites by donating/buying banners and they continue to do so because they can direct vouches/bumps to their threads and get more exposure for free.
This has literally nothing to do with vouches or stopping the collection of vouches. This has to do with stopping people from double posting within 8 hours. All the plugin does is say: were you the last person to post on this thread? If so, has it been 8 hours? Yes it has, then you can post. No it hasn't, you can't post yet. It doesn't distinguish between the thread starter and other posters. It simply won't allow you to post on a thread twice in a row within 8 hours. If someone wants to vouch immediately after posting, they should edit their post and add the vouch or wait 8 hours. Or just wait for someone else to post and then reply.
Hmm, alright. I suggest re-enabling it then, I sometimes was still getting errors trying to bump after a customer. I bump 8 hours 2 seconds exactly from when the last bump was logged that I myself had done because I bump every chance I'm allowed to for exposure.
I've re-enabled the bump timer. If you have issues with it, I would encourage you to PM me. If you provide the link to the thread and explain who was the last poster and what happened when you tried posting, I can look into it.
