[Food] Yucatan Taco Stand Review

I don't expect this place to ever expand out of Dallas. At least I hope.

I'm sure this doesn't concern anyone unless you're in the situation where you want to eat somewhere in Dallas and don't know where to go. Now you know where NOT to go (potentially).

Price Paid: A lot. Each Item was $10 approx. and the desert was $6



Chicken Nachos. Came with some oddly mushy diced jalapenos. The chicken was very lackluster and may as well have been canned chicken with a bit of seasoning. It was fine, the queso was half-decent, the guacamole was clearly aging. The nachos were pretty good nonetheless, and are a great item to split between two people.

Low 4/5 this is the only item I'd get from here.



Sirloin burrito. When you see Sirloin, you think steak, right? Well it was ground beef. Great. Ground beef burrito. I asked for habanero sauce on it and it apparently didn't' have any because it was the driest item I've eaten in a while. I asked for some later on and I got some nasty, fire-roasted habanero sauce. Yeah, let me not use that. This was just awful all around. I've had frozen burritos that tasted better.

0/5 Would not get this EVER again. I forced this down my throat.



White Chocolate Creme Brulee (accent mark missing, help!)

The custard itself tasted fine, but nothing special at all. You got a little bit of white chocolate flavor if you looked for it. It had a THICC "caramelized sugar" layer which was so hard to get into. 2 cm of just a nasty fake caramelized product. This was clearly made in an nontraditional manner.

Low 2/5. Wouldn't get it again, but I like custard enough to bump it to a 2/5.

Overpriced for an awful taste.

 

Yeah, that all looks horrible. Do the claim to be authentic or is it tex-mex?

 

Judging by their name, and their choice Puerto Rican music, along with some of the ideals it is supposed to be authentic. I was in for a huge surprise when I saw what came out.

 

I know in Texas you have waaayyy more authentic places. Over here, locally at least, there is 2. Both are decent but expensive. The tex mex places here are pretty decent too.

 

Can confirm we have millions of better places lol. If you want authentic stuff there are always dirty taco stands everywhere. There are also good places for "gringo tacos" all over the place. This place... just crap. I don't know how this place has 5 locations.

 

Actually those nachos look really pale IMO. Really hate that dessert bullshit, with the sirope all over the place like: "Dude, do you want me to lick the plate in front of everyone?" everything looks so awful.

 

that waste of sugary yumminess in that desert...

The nachos were still pretty good, despite the basic chicken but amen.

As I constantly say here, looks are irrelevant when it comes to food. In the end, it is going to look brown. That's what counts.

 

They don't even know the difference between sirloin and ground beef. Build the wall!
