Mage boxing is basically based on luck, done by 99 magers. High stakes as well.

Dude, if you want a quick and simple staker, get 70 range and 40 defence. If you can make sure you get armour for versing 1 def's you'll own, but armour off for those with 50 defence (Granite is so ewwie).

Just equip yourself a rune c'bow and the best bolts you can afford (Don't use dragon (e) bolts if you're only staking 50k per duel. You might end up spending more money on bolts...
Anyway, hit 'em down till they're reasonably low on hp then change to an msb and rune arrows and spec 'em. You should own them..

Oh, if you've got a dark bow and dragon arrows, spec first. You might k0 on. After that use bolts and you should own.

    Happy staking.

P.S. I started staking today for a bit of fun (and to waste 400 mith bolts) and I ended up winning 28 to 8 losses. Not the best record, but not too bad considering I was only using mith bolts and rune arrows.

One thing I forgot to add. Unlike PK'ing, staking is heavily based on your stats and luck. And, if you've a slightly slower computer/laggy connection, be warned, it will fuck you about.

But, other than that, have fun! Staking is a brilliant way to make money and it's simply one of the best things to do in runescape. Although, I prefer pk'ing.

Depends on what you want. Most stakers nowadays are 60 attack, 70+ strength 1 defence. You'll find a fair few, of course, with defence but alot don't.

Personally, I prefer to have a couple of defence levels. You'd be amazed how much 40-45 defence can help.

And, yes. If you've got defence you can still PK and pk quite well. The account I'm in the middle of making (And possibly selling.. for the right price) has 40 defence and it owns the duel arena and does quite nicely at PK'ing (Hasn't got the stats to own the wildy so much, just yet).

So, figure out what type of staker you want to make. The best ones, I feel, are as followed:-
    1 defence, 60-70 attack, 80+ strength
    70 attack, 30-42 strength, 70+ defence
    61+ range, 40-50 defence
    75+ range, 70 defence
    70attack, 45 defence, 80+ strength
    90 attack, 90 strength, 70 defence.
80+ mage (Charge godspell, I dunno what level for a good ancient spell), 20+ defence (I'd suggest 70. Mage can be so random).

Anyone of those is likely to own in the arena if you've got some luck and pick your fights carefully. Obviously 60att, 80strength and 1 defence won't own anyone with 40defence and who's wearing armour.

Really, i highly suggest a semi range tank. Use mith+ bolts (preferably enchanted) with armour off and you'll win quite consistantly. If they're 1 defence, try putting armour on. If they're doggedly trying to take it off, when they do it switch specials off. They've no chance of winning then(Unless they're a whipper...) untill you get into higher levels.

Plus, low level range semi's are quick as to train. Barely two weeks work and you've got yourself a nice account.

Verac stakers are pretty damn nice. Only hit 9's or so, but they'll hit 'em everytime without being hit. It's not uncommon to come out of a duel with only loosing 20 hp. Probably less.

Problem is training them is pretty boring. 1.4m exp is needed before you can use 'em and when you're only hitting 9's it can take awhile. Biggest suggestion I can make is to get your attack and defence to 40, then just train attack to 70. After that, whip your defence up to 70. It'll be quicker then training attack and defence at the same time.

You might wanna train range up to 70 or higher (best to train untill it'd push your combat up) for the hp, incase you find another verac staker.

Also, when fighting, start out with a dds spec, then change to a whip. If they've got armour on use the flail. Else, the whip should kill them damn quick.
