serious grand tree question

I need serious help on the grand tree.

I got to the demon, demon appeared fine. Then I ran into the tunnel but I had forgotten rune, so I ran to wear the king is and went up the ladder. I came back with runes, but the demon wouldnt appear (I went through the regular way in gloughs house)
When I get down into the demon cave, glough comes up to me, but he doesnt talk to me or anything. Glough acts like I havent gotten the sticks, but I can't get the sticks anymore because I cant get gloughs secret plans because they arent in his chest.
So I think I glitched myself and I'm stuck, I really hope this isnt the case because I worked hard to get my str and atk up to be a pure staker >.>

 

I had this problem i'm not sure exactly how i got past it, but i did. Ill edit this post if i remember.

 

ok i just fixed this problem, now does anyone know how i can possibly beat the demon with a cannon? Theres no place to set it up!

 

He's not that hard to beat just range or mage him from behind those rocks.

 

yeh... range him.. don't use cannon.
