Laptop Making Loud Noises

Recently my laptop has started making very loud noises whenever it's running, it sounds like a small vacum or something. I'm thinking that the fan messed up but how do I fix the problem.

 

My computer does that sometimes. Usually when I'm running a lot of things all at once. Never really understood why it did it though.

 

My computer does that sometimes too. It's not a laptop though, but it happens when I'm running programs that use a lot. (Like Azureus)

 

But the sound it makes is loud! And its never happened before, it also only happens when the laptop gets hot. Do I need to tighten the fan? If so, how do I do that.

 

Try taking off the cover on your tower and using a can of compressed air to clean in and beside the fans. If you have owned your PC for 2+ years and havn't done this, this is likely your problem.

 

It is 2 month old lol, I'm going to get some compressed air tomorow.

 

Also, you probably want to decide whether it is your hard drive or your fan that is making that noise. If it is your hard drive, you have problems.

 

It only happens when it gets hot though.

 

Its your fan, its probably getting over worked. If that happens, get some extra portable fans, and just start blowing them on the underside of your laptop, that should help. Mine does the same thing, but it sounds like a disc is stuck in the drive, but its the fan, once i turn the extra fans on the laptop, in a couple minutes, it cools down and the noise stops. If that doesnt help, take it to a computer shop (if you can afford those expensive assholes) and have them look at it.

 

Yah it sounds exactly like what you described except it's mixed in with a vacum type noise, I don't really want to have portable fans blowing all the time I think I'll just tighten it or clean it.

Yes I leave it on all the time, but that shouldn't really matter. I think I might've bumped it accidently when I was going to my friends house and knocked the fan a bit off its position.

 

I wouldn't think so, they are screwed in :S

 

don't panic all you need to do is take it apart and clean out all the dust. you'll be suprised how much gets in there. take apart the fans and just get all the dust bunnies out and it should be good. Mine used to shutdown because it got too hot cleaned it out and its all fine. Clean it out every 3-4 months.

 

Well if u leave it a laptop on all the time it gets heated up so the fan would have to work harder and thus get worn out quicker.

 

my laptop makes a noise but only when its over worked. the computers at my school do that sound sometimes and it was the fan.

 

happens with my pc also, really desnt bother me though lol

 

LOL it's annoying to me it's like super loud, sounds like it's going to break.

 

dad got a brand new comp and it does it because its ram is too low for the new vista program, its weird how they would sell him vista when they know the comp aint good enuf to run it
