can you track somone address by an ip address

well i saw this thread that said whos ip is this......
and when i opened the thread someone was able to track the ip address to austalia.... but when i told my mom how interesting that it was to track an home address by an ip.... my mom didnt believe it.... so i am asking sythe can you really track an ip address back to a home address....

 

No you can't
You can track the adress but it wont show the actually adress of the person who is owning the IP it will just show the adress of the ISP at least it does for mine IP.

 

yeah you can i forgot the command but on cmd it shows you ip then the ip your connected to so just have the persons im window up and wa la

 

i bealive that u can not, I have tried it with my friends ip, but it will not show his adress only the company of the isp etc, and it wont give u any info about the person just about the company that owns the ip.

 

Meh, it wouldn't be that hard. But the average 12 year old can't do it.

Funny... but you can't get the persons adress with tracing his IP but hey if you really think that you know that much then please scan my IP which is 77.248.77.236 and post the adress up here.

 

Apparently, you live in the city, Zutphen, in the Netherlands. Apparently, you live on the steet called Verdistraat, near the street "Lan naar Eme".

When I tried my IP, it wasn't accurate. Probably won't be accurate for your IP too.

 

Zutphen is like 30-40 KM <> 20-25 Miles from my house XD

 

My IP, when I track it tells me something about me living near Boston. but in reality I live in South Florida.

yeah.... i figure it tracked back to your internet provider.....

 

It only shows the location of the person's IPS. If I had verizon, it could say that I'm from anywhere between Florida and Main lol.

Eastern, Central, and Western.

The only people I know who can do that is the FBI or any other agency like that.

 

It would take me to much effort from my part. But trust me, if i really wanted to get it, i could.

 

I don't believe you can.

IP address can change.
Some people have the same IP and don't even know it.

 

It's possible.

If you use proxys or got a dynamic IP I don't think you can though. And for those of you who tried to track his IP stop using IP tracker sources, there unreliable.

I tried it to me and my friends house. Mine was like a mile and a half off from my house, and my friends was about 10 miles out. So, no, I dont think you can track back to the home address.

 

Yes, if your good with computers and stuff you can do anything, i mean the police can track you down with your ip, so why couldn't you do it?

Do you mean their house address? If so, then no, it's impossible.

You have to manually find it or use a good program... You dont use one of those crap things off the internet, they obviously arent going to tell the exact spot or they will face lawsuit issues.
