Live chat?

Hey guys

i don't know if this has been asked for before, but today i was looking through and thinking when you PM someone who is online, wouldnt it be cool to have a tab chat? Similar to facebook, where you can live-chat with someone and see if they've read/recieved your message & if theyre responding.

No doubt this would be alot of work, but i kinda thought it would be cool.

just to be clear, im refering to the facebook PM chat option which comes up in like a tab, allowing for group chats if possible. Also, this would be a solid form of evidence for scam reports.

If your argument against this is "use discord" then just move on, discord is not business/user friendly and due to the volumes of PM's / sales just isn't the better option. Having this chat would mean 100% security to customers and no need to second guess your evidence for scam reports.

 

I believe this is similar to a shoutbox, I think it would be an amazing feature none the less if it was put in like facebook chat, although I'm 99% sure it is on the DNT as shoutbox.

 

ah im sorry, I didnt mean a shoutbox. I meant a 1-1 PM chat feature (as i said, similar to the facebook private message) - maybe i didnt make that clear. i don't mean like the main feature of facebook as in statuses etc.

If OPs suggestion doesn't go through just use the unofficial sythe discord; loads of us on there.

Basically it would be a site livechat 1v1 conversations right? What if it involved another person; i.e. for middleman trades?

 

Its a good idea and creates more security for members when they are trading. Pretty much eliminates the chances of being scammed by an imposter.

 

yeah, it would eliminate many scams as an official sythe pm is good evidence. Also, I think that you could add group chat options, again, refering to the facebook PM chat which allows you to do that.

On there.. there was an option to have a;

"Feature-wise I was thinking:
- option to turn on facebook-like chat"

..So I think Sythes original plan was to make it pay-as-you-use sort of feature.

 

What's wrong with the PM system we have?

 

The current PM system isn't really user friendly, it's kinda tedius and annoying to use ATM (Personal view).

It's kinda cool that he may already have this in the pipeline. Hopefully this post might encourage him further,

Can you go more in depth though? Because it only takes a couple of clicks to start a conversation.

 

Pretty sure I have seen this suggestion a few times already. Just use discord and trade with verified people. Kinda the same feature

 

Good idea but i'd only support such a thing if we were able to toggle it on and off. It'd be quite annoying to have random chatboxes popping-up all day. But other than that, theres really no reason not to implement such a thing. It'd eliminate imposters and simplify scam reports that require skype chat logs, etc.

 

I agree, a toggle option.

 

We had a Sythe.org live chat once (yeeeaars ago) but it got shut down because it was inactive and not really needed.

Support. This would definitely be a nice little feature to upgrade. I hate having to open another tab just to reply to a PM while trying to stay on a thread; it's minor but still annoying.

 

Who's going to pay people to sit on a live chat that is ineffective and will be flooded with spam related topics then? Because I honestly can't think of anyone who would sit on a chat (especially for a site like this) for free and be effective in any way
