    How To Lucid Dream Tonight!

It can take up to a month or longer to have your first lucid dream and after all that time its likely that you will realize you are dreaming and get excited then instantly wake up, all depends on how much you want it.

It took me around 2 weeks of reality checks and insuring I remembered my dream every day when I woke up.

8+ hours a day are wasted on nothing, why not make it useful when you can do anything you can imagine. People also talk about improving skills while in dreams, there are no downsides only 8-12 hours that you can do anything you like within.

Hmm sounds interesting I guess it makes sense when you put it like that. Come to think of it I don't even know if I've had a lucid dream, I may have and have never really thought about it. Maybe once or twice when I was younger I may have. I just read through the rest of the thread and from what people explained.. maybe.

    How To Lucid Dream Tonight!

You dream many times each night, it's a matter of what you remember is what determines whether you think you've had a dream or not.

People have lucid dreams for many reasons, some want to talk to their inner-self about things, some want to go off and explore a whole different would in their sleep and some perhaps just want to try something different.

It's easy to do but difficult to master if you like.

I tend to remember what happens just before I wake, otherwise I rarely dream now. Sounds intriguing none the less.

Yeah that sounds about right. It's quite fun having lucid dreams, I think they generally last for up to an hour or so (once you get good at it). I have heard stories of people having something like 90 year dreams... although obviously that isn't possible. However it's the perception of time that is important here, it may be an hour in the real world but in the dream it can be a lot longer.

    How To Lucid Dream Tonight!

A suggestion for anyone following this guide.

Drink a banana + orange juice smoothie an hour or so before using this guide.

The b6 in banana helps memory retention of dreams. And the acid in orange juice increases the vividity of dreams. What's the point of lucid dreaming if you can barely remember it? Also, vividity is important as it can induce a lucid dream in itself. When the fucked up imagery of your subconscious is more vivid it triggers your normal conscious. Your normal conscious then tries to correlate reality to your subconscious. The result is usually, "wtf, josh doesn't have three arms." All the silly things your subconscious accepts as reality is then rejected and seen for what it really is, a dream.

Tips: Throughout the day, do "reality checks". Reality checks can be something like checking your hands or looking at the clock. I recommend checking your hands regularly throughout the day. If you ever look at your hands in a dream, they are usually fucked up looking. What happens is you'll train your brain to subconsciously check your hands. This transfers over into dream world. In the middle of a dream, you might then find yourself checking your hand and realizing, "whoa my hands look fucked up... weird... OH SHIT THIS IS A DREAM".

I've been lucid dreaming for almost a decade now on and off. You really have to dedicate if you want to get serious about lucid dreaming.

Word of caution, lucid dreaming can induce a type of psychosis if done for prolonged periods of time. You start questioning your own reality. Things start getting fucky. You may even have hallucinations in wake state. Be aware of the dangers of lucid dreaming.

Am I the only one who doesn't get the point? Dreams are fine as they are. Can't be bothered to interfere.
