    Contract?

Is there any way to make some sort of viable contract between two people on sythe that would at least get any party that violates it banned?

Would need more info to work with, usually the safest bet is to record everything that happens and use a middleman whenever possible for the safest trading experience.

    That's how Sythe mostly works.

Make an agreement -> Document actions made towards that agreement
-> file scam report against people who don't follow agreement

You shouldn't need an official contract as long as you have good documentation of clear agreements between parties.

We do recognize contracts to some extent. The rules of evidence are more important.

For example, if someone breaches a term in your contract (for example they scam you). You will have the onus of proof, and have to give evidence that they breached the terms of the contract. Check this thread for the evidence we require.

What penalty a violation of a term in the contract attracts will depend on both how essential the term was to the contract, and how egregious the breach was. To some extent you can't contractually prescribe the penalty. For example, if you contracted for a service to be done in 48 hours, and it was provided in 49 hours, we probably wouldn't ban them even if the K said so. Obviously if you have explicit terms in the K however, we'll take them into consideration regarding the punishment.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

I meant something more along the lines of if you could possibly invest into someones project and than "sign" a contract with them for a part of the monthly profits for example? I am a bit confused because I heard you aren't protected if you loan someone money so I'm wondering if investing into something like that falls under the same category as a loan.

This would be a case-by-case basis, but it should be noted that not all breaches of contracts or defaults on loans are equal. With the advent of the DNT, there's been a policy change re defaulting on loans, where yes, you will be banned (as usual). However, the length of the ban will be determined based on the loans outstanding. After a period of time, you may be DNT'd (let back into the community but still banned from the market), on the rationale that you've served your punishment and the debt remains outstanding.

The same would apply for breach of contract. If it wasn't fraudulent (ie a scam), then you would still be permanently banned, and the damages/compensation flowing from the breach would form a debt you'd have to repay, and after a while, once you've served your punishment, you may be DNT'd.

So although you could have it in your contract that IF they default on their obligations, then they would be permanently ban. We would recognize it insofar as the fulfillment of the promise was very important to you, and thus a failure on the other parties part to adhere to it would be taken into consideration. I'd also think the more formal the contract/document, the more we would take it into consideration for the same reasons.

In summing all that up, there's probably no term you can put into a contract to ensure someone is 100% permanently banned forever, never to return. However, we will definitely take the contract into account when determining the length of someone's punishment, and so on that point, we do recognize contracts, but it really depends on the individual case.

Feel free to run any specifics be me, and I'll try my best to help.
