My skype is not safe right now: nom.nom46 (fixed)

A user who was scammed yesterday by my imposter 'live:nom.nom46' mentioned today that the fake Skype and my real Skype 'nom.nom46' have some matching results with a Skype resolver. At first i thought he was just messing around with me, since i never noticed anything that would imply that i was hacked. I checked a Skype resolver myself and he is right. It really does match with some Lithuanian IP's.

Please make it known that my Skype isnt safe at the moment. I changed my password & updated Skype. I cant login with Skype on my laptop, but i can on my Phone and Skype browser. Definately something fucked up going on.

Please let me know whats the best thing to do with this situation.

 

If you're getting a connection error trying to login to Skype on your computer that's normal, Skype is having some issues with logging in.

Also, having some IP matches when you resolve your Skype could mean nothing as the Resolver APIs glitch quite frequently.
If you have control of your email and have two factor authentication set and can log in and out of Skype on your phone without issues you're probably fine.

I would suggest running a virus scan, and a malware-bytes scan and checking your computer for anything malicious just in case.

Also, I would take this time and create an email based Skype account where you use an email account to login to your skype and secure it with text verification and two factor authentication. It's 2016, no reason not to protect yourself.

 

Thanks for the quick reply, im glad to hear that. I was kinda freaked out about the IP matches and the 'unable to connect' message with Skype. I do have control over my email and its an unable to connect error on Skype.

 

I had the same issue with my Skype when I tried signing in this morning.

I fixed the problem by pressing my windows key + R
Typing in "%appdata%\skype" (Include the ")
Delete the "shared" file only
