Shouldn't Somking Be Illegal?

Smoking is the second leading cause of death in America these days. Well your just poisoning your stuff and getting addicted to it. Shouldn't the government make a law to ban smoking completely? Because I see people smoking around me, and I don't wanna get diseases or death because of second-hand smoke.

 

It should be, but the government are greedy fucks and they keep it cause the money they make. America would be a better place if there was no smoking. All it is, is causing deaths. I don't even understand the big deal about cigarettes/cigars. Oh wow, so it helps you relax. And what I really hate, I was at my friends house. And the neighbor had their baby in a stroller, and like there were 5 people around it smoking. Like, WTF?!?!?.

 

I wish it was illegal, but its not going to happen.

 

It should be, it kills many people, but it's a huge market...

 

Whats poisioning is how schools teach how bad smoking is to kids. Its bad but its not THAT bad. Smoking has been around for centuries, and back then it was cigars, those things WITHOUT filters. Those ads on TV that make it sound like its so hard to quit, do you acutally think all those people that quit are gonna make a TV show? No, but all the people that can't quit do go on TV and tell their story, so it makes it seem like its impossible to quit.

True, heart-disease is the leading cause of deaths, but not all of those deaths are smokers. Its their choice to smoke or not, and in a court case, its already been proven not addictive. Cigerettes also bring in money for the government which helps pay for many things, (most of which the iraq war but w/e). Standing outside in the sun, watching TV, riding a bike without a helmet, breathing in some downtown air, its all unhealthy too.

Smoking also lets the mind at ease, it calms the body down, its like a destresser. You take 25 years off your life to make the rest of your life a lot less stressful.

As for people smoking around you, they are still in the proccess of making laws of where you can or cannot smoke. Unless you are in the army and you are majorly exposed to it all the time, it should be fine.

I for one, am not old enough to smoke, dont smoke, and never will smoke. I just hate how schools poision the minds of kids through school thinking that smoking cigerettes is gonna kill you right away.

I'm sorry, but are you fucking kidding me? Of COURSE smoking is addictive. Tell me, what do you think Nicotine is? -_-; Weed on the other hand is not, but smoking cigs is definately addictive because of the nicotine.

Use common sense, don't believe everything you hear on TV or the internet. :\

 

In my opinion, weed should be legal, and smoking should not. Weed is much less harmful.

 

You dont know what addictive is. There are certain drugs that are TRUELY addictive, that the second you smoke it you will become addicted, and your body will mold around that dependacy. Smoking is just slightly addictive. Playing RS for an extended period of time, having cofee every morning, eating fast food, doing any of those for a long period of time will develop a dependacy in the brain, just like smoking, even though it might still slightly be more addictive.

There are many court cases that have to deal with smoking. Me going into law school, I have to study them. A person sued the tobacco company for selling cigerettes cause they were "addictive." They were proved wrong by the statement just above.

 

Yeah, smoking kills a lot more than drugs ever will. Smoking is pointless to me anyway.

no, look at it this way, when people smoke they get diseases like cancer and such, the more people smoke and the more people get diseases the more the medical industry grows. so basically smoking is partly funding the medical field of work and tons of other jobs. if smoking wiere illegal, millions of people would go out of work therefor would be more homeless people and more crime. plus a ton of people are addicted already so i doubt it will ever happen.

 

If you make smoking illegal then it just turns into more money. Then you will have drug runners running tobacco. At least thats my thoughts. I am not denying that I wouldn't want smoking to stop though.

and after smokings becomes illegal whos to say their going to stop there? its called the freedom of choice. its the hole reason we separated from england. we keep slowly losing freedoms, the second the major ones are gone (alcohol, tobacco and guns) its gonna go down hill fast my friends.

Must people where I hang out with smoking too. I mean, if you're like 100 YO you wish you smoked so you died in your 90's

Umm i agree and dissagree with the weed being legalized if you want it legalized petision your goverment to get it legilized

 

It should be, but this won't happen. The taxes the government is earning from cigarettes are far more tangible than health care savings decades down the road.
