[Food] Dos Batos - Chicken + Steak Taco Review

Some people asked me to do local reviews. I have no idea why, but I'm starting with a place that opened in 2010 supposedly, but I'll soon do some of our popular places like Franklin's, Hopdoddy, and Torchy's Tacos. Whatever let's move on.

Price Paid: $8.80!!!!!!!!!!! (OVERPAID ALERT)




When I received these tacos, I was a bit disappointed by the size. At least they weren't tiny, but most of the $4 tacos here are USUALLY really filled, but I have had a few bad experiences recently.

When I came into the place, it smelled like a BBQ. I wasn't sure what I expected it to smell like, but for some reason I didn't think BBQ because I'm a dummy.

Fastforward, I see lots of White people, and an expensive pricetag. Usually that means either really good, or really bad. I was prepared for really good.

These tacos came with chips and salsa - the salsa was one of those broth-based salsas that taste like you're eating tomato soup or just vegetable broth. I don't want soup as my salsa, but apparently some people do. That salsa earned a 0/5, but some people actually really like that stuff.

They had a green sauce which was pretty spicy and I was told my butt would hate me the next day. It didn't, and I was happy. Really good sauce, but it was the only sauce they had for the tacos. Just a really spicy sauce? What about for the mild sauce people? Whatever it was a 5/5 sauce.

As for the tacos themselves:

Chicken: Tasted like BBQ chicken - something you'd make at home on the grill. Don't get me wrong, this was really good, but for this price they've got to be insane. Working the price into the overall rating, Low 4/5. Taste is a High 4/5.

Beef: Same as above. Cheese and avocado were also fresh and delicious, and the tortilla was amazing (homemade tortillas are the best!). Overall rating 4/5, Taste 5/5

Would I go here again? Nah. That price in insane, but their consumerbase seems happy. I don't really see this place expanding, especially since it has been six years (See: Hopdoddy)
