How was runescape made?

Does anyone know the java tools that were used to make runescape models and landscape? because i would like to experiment with them .

 

I'm not sure that they used java tools to make the models/landscape... they could just use some sort of 3d imaging software and then use java to set the angle of view, etc... but I dont really have that much of an idea about how they use it =P...
anyway, you could try poking around on the rs website and try to email the graphics team.

I sent them an email to ask if i could get a job as a coder and they said most probably cause some had left >_< w00t

 

they didn't use java tools... java just runs it for them =D

but im sure if you know a coder they could help you or maybe even someone form moparisbest.com

Idk :S, You would need the program to edit the file at first though :|, I don't think java could do that.

[On topic] They have artists who make them then the game engine animates the item.

 

They are using a fully custom engine with only native java components (no SWING at all). Extremely sexy engine i must say. One of the best Java game engines ever.

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think they used the Java Company's tools, they just use them to host it.

Erm... Any Java application can be reverse-engineered which means according to you all Java apps are "not so" sexy.
Try write your own deobfuscator and prove me wrong

 

Yup, they made their own engine. It's pretty damn laggy, but for not using hardware acceleration or anything, it's great.
And I'm not sure what they used for modeling... but I know they adhere to some popular form of models considering a model-viewer app was make for RS a while ago.

Easiest way to become a stupid wannabe programmer that thinks he know Java. Anyone with some common sense will see how todays "Private Servers" are a pathetic attempt of doing Java with no structure, no oop and no organization at all. It's a disgrace to mankind. The answer has been posted several times already. Jagex created their own engine using Java. Now will people stop posting? Lol.
