Are PSP's worth the money?

Alright. The last portable gaming device Ive had was a game boy color... back when I was like 9 or 10.

I havent had one since lol.

Just wasent into it that much.

Now I have a job and can afford a PSP and I was wonder if a PSP is worth it?

Are the games good?
Is the thing in general good?

Who ever has one please post

 

yeeeeesssssssss, psp's are definately worth it, especially if you get one of the earlier firmwares, you can mod your psp to do all kinds of crazy shit lol,*cough* play downloaded iso's *cough*

 

well, i find its the best portable electronic, it plays music, can go on the internet, and the games are sick

only 1 problem...if you're just going to buy games, then the prices reasonable, BUT, if you are buying the stuff for memory (like to put music on and movies) i heard its pretty expensive :S

if you are buying it for the games, buy it, but if your goin to use it just as an mp3, dont buy it, just buy an ipod or something

I have a PSP and a Nintendo DS Lite.

You deffinetly want to go for the DS Lite over the PSP. I like the PSP for movies and music, but the DS has a lot better games. Just go for the DS if you're looking for fun.

 

I 100% agree. Ds is smaller too, no memory required, and dont have to buy much extra stuff. Save money too.

 

I will not buy any games for it what so ever.

I am planning on Modding it to a lower firmware.

I gave lots of resources to ISO's.

I was looking at the DS but the graphics on it look like shit and Ive never ever been a fan of the touch screen games... stylis

Im not concerned about money I am more focusing on the quality of games. DS look like all puzzle games..... (eww I hate puzzles). PSP looks like GTA:SA, Socom, etc (pwnage)

 

Ok, if you're modding it, then go for the PSP. However, the memory thing for it will be around 50. I have one.

You mean the memory for it will be $50? how much MB or GB

 

I paid like 50 for 2 gigs.

 

PSP is defentely WAY better.

Both ARE moddable, psp is FREE to mod, you just need a memory stick to put games, 2 gig is good enough, 4 gig if you want to hold a couple games at a time. When you get your psp, NEVER do system update, this will prevent it from being modded.

DS is moddable, but it costs a good 60-70$ alltogether to get the modchip, but once you do you can download games and hold about 30 games at a time, then again theres only a small number of actually GOOD games.

You can do many more things with a modded PSP. I can turn my TV on with my PSP =p. Once modded, you can rent games from blockbuster and save them onto your psp.

Oh yea, and one last thing, dont buy memory sticks off ebay, they are fake and dont work -.- I bought a 4 gig, ISO games do not work, nor do the movies.

 

I have a psp and a ds, I have way more fun with my psp. If you are still into pokemon and having fun with the stick thing then get the ds. I enjoy using my psp because I can pretty much edit, I have my own custom icons, font, its really fun. Btw, aim for a firmware 1.5. The thread below will tell you the firmware for each different box code. The same site below has a great forum for psp discussion, help, hacks, and new releases. Tons of guides, you can't hack a psp and not know about that site.

I would get it if you can afford it. Otherwise save cash for gas money

 

Acutally 3.40 OE is pretty good, 1.5 doesnt have as many features.

Also a psp can be connected to a sony camera, or the ps3, and a couple other sony products, if you have any.

 

Save for a PS3. But if ya really want something portible, go ahead.

 

Get a PSP if you want something portable but a Wii or PS3 if you''e just going to play at home. And btw: PSP's ROCK!

 

You can do so much more with a PSP than anything else really. Play games, watch movies, listen to music, connect to the internet and connect to other Sony products like digital cameras and the PS3. Its definatly worth it. Plus with the older firmware you can play homebrew flash games. I'd say the PSP is the best handheld gaming system around today. And it also has exceptional graphics for a machine that fits in the palm of your hand. I highly recommend getting one if you dont have one already.
