Runefest 2016: What's Coming To OldSchool

Runefest is now over! If you've missed it, here's what's coming to Old School over the next 12 months:

Fossil Island:
- Based around skeletal Wyverns/Dragons
- Low level Hunter as well as very high level hunter (Aiming to make 1-40 Hunter less of a pain)
- Summer 2017 (Won't even be discussed before January/February 2017)
- Separate island

Inferno (Jad 2)
- New monster species called Tassa Kahl
- Jad 2 got a 72% vote against it in the polls so they'll be reworking it (and re-polling it in the future)
- Instead of the floor collapsing when you've beaten Jad and Jad 2 popping up, there will instead be a completely new island (Lava themed)
- New jad will have completely new mechanics and is expected to include waves with multiple jads
- The only reward will be a superior fire cape (design will be voted on by the community)

New Quest by Mod Ash:
- Based around trolls and their stupidity as well as the Wise Old Man
- Will have some form of romantic storyline
- Will grant players access to a new area
- Will have some form of reward which will grant us the ability to "rest" at certain places and recover run energy

Raids:
- Will be based around the clan chat system (to create/join parties)
- Games will last between 50-95 minutes
- Rewards are still in the works but it is confirmed that there will be new prayers, an elder maul and a new wand.
- Armour for Magic/Melee/Ranged is being reworked after polls failed
- ETA is (hopefully) before Christmas

Also:
- B0aty won the community champion award, 07 Streamer award as well as the first ever Last Man Standing Tournament!
- OSRS memberships are steadily growing, with spikes occuring at the start of every DMM season
- A friend won Best Video Maker (Golden Gnome)!
- Zeah's map layout will be changing massively after the OS team received a lot of feedback regarding how large it is and how useless some of the space provided was. It will become smaller and look more like an island on the map (No longer a large square)

What do you guys think of these updates they're planning? Suprised? Happy?

 

I am really satisfied with the updates and think its gonna be a good year for 07.

Strong batch of updates. Ambitious but not overkill. Good balance.

Good changes I think, especially the Zeah one and I don't mind an upgraded fire cape being added. Also it's good that the raid armors are being reworked.
The only thing I'm iffy about are raids right now, I really hope they are designed well and will be really cool if they are but there is a lot of potential for it to be a shit show

 

Same. Raids have a dungeoneering feel to it. Really hope they make games last less than an hour though. That's too long IMO.

An hour is to long, 30 minutes or maybe 45 sounds better. Speaking of dung, are you wanting that released?

 

People didn't like better capes than FC coming into the game

 

at this point they're too overly concerned about changing the game imo

 

I think they're just worried about power creep, which is a decent concern.

I wanted Jad 2 though

People wanted a completely new boss and area, not an expansion of the old one

 

This is a fairly solid schedule tbh. Not liking the idea of raids taking over an hour to complete just one trip but the rest of it seems decent. Props for them finally making fossil island a thing after a decade and a half or something.

 

Inb4 eoc is coming jk, hehe good updates can't wait for raids!

 

Does seem like a long time but I can't help but feel, if done properly (I have no reason to doubt the OSRS team, RS3 team not so much), that Raids will be addicting as hell.
