Code of Conduct and Banning Policy

It’s been a huge week for Rocket League and our community! We’ve rolled out our free Rumble update, released Rocket League on Mac and SteamOS, introduced a brand new Crates and Keys system, and taken additional steps to ensure that you get the best-possible experience on all supported platforms.

It’s with those new features and added content in mind that we’ve decided to post these updated player behavior guidelines and our policies surrounding them:

No Harassment, Trolling, or Other Jerk Behavior
We don’t like toxic players and neither does our community. If someone out there targets you with abusive language, makes threats, or does any of the other bad things we’ve listed in our EULA or Terms of Service, then it’s a bannable offense. We aren’t going to ban someone for using a Quick Chat sarcastically, but using racist, sexist, or otherwise hateful language is grounds for a ban.

To help us ensure that disruptive players are dealt with appropriately, please remember to use our “Mute/ Report Player” feature that allows you to block communications from someone who is bothering you and/ or report them to our team. We revised the in-game UI so that player-bans are more obvious to the individuals receiving them in the Rumble update. We believe that this small, but important change will serve as a more effective deterrent going forward.

Selling In-Game Items is Not Permitted
Now that Crates and Keys are out in the wild, many of you have been spending a lot of time trading with your friends. Trading is a fantastic way to complete collections in Rocket League, be it for Toppers, Antennas, or Decals, but it’s important to remember the rules that come along with it.

Outside trading puts you at risk for scams and other illegal activity, which is why trying to sell in-game items outside of Rocket League is against our EULA and TOS. More specifically, Crates, Keys, and other in-game items may only be traded for other in-game items, Crates, or Keys to ensure a safer and healthier ecosystem. We know that EULAs and Terms of Use documents are TLDR’s, so consider this a heads-up in plain language that attempting to sell in-game items personally or through third-party websites is not allowed.

    Our Banning Policy
Encouraging a healthy environment in Rocket League comes with enforcing our aforementioned player bans. If you’re reporting another player in-game, you can select from among these categories:

    • Verbal Text Harassment (which includes offensive language, flooding, etc.)
    • Unsportsmanlike conduct (which includes intentional disruption of the game, AFK’ers. etc.)
    • Cheating (which includes smurfing, opponent collusion, etc.)
Psyonix has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to harassment of any kind, and we will ban reported offenders at our discretion. The length of player bans for any valid reason is also at our discretion and could include permanent bans if appropriate. Furthermore, the more often you are banned, the longer each subsequent ban will be, including an eventual permanent ban.

With the addition of our new Crates and Keys system, it should also be noted that “Crate Farming” (i.e. players who join matches with no intention of playing with teammates) is not allowed because it takes away from both the flow and the action of a game. If you see someone crate farming during a match, please report them under the “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” category and we’ll take it from there.

    Friendly Reminder
Last but not least? Be nice, everyone! Rocket League is a game that brings people together from all over the world. We want our game to be a fantastic and healthy experience for everyone who enters a stadium, regardless of their skill, rank, or experience. The nicer we are, the more fun our community can have, and having fun is what it’s all about!
