Your soul

Being the atheist that i am, I consider your "soul" as the same thing as your emotions

i consider your soul as conscience, the choices you make

I am asking here, how do you treat your soul?



I, myself, have made many philosophical breakthroughs in my mind, of my mind
I have learned that by destroying my "soul", i can become a more powerful, stable person

I can achieve a higher mentality
The process of doing this requires very much mental discipline, and causes you to go through many emotional phases.
I have passed the beginning of these phases, and i have already become a more powerful person


So, i have to ask you, how do you treat your "soul"? do you listen to it, do you obey it, do you ignore it, do you defeat it?

How do you control your mind?

 

emm... im athiest and dont really believe in any sort of soul. it seems like a mith to me... thats all i can really say :/

 

Uhmmmm i have reallly bad temptations to jump in a river called the detroit river and i go against my mind and dont do it, cept for one time i actually jumped in and nearly drowned

 

i'm not actually talking about a "soul" as the living essence of man, i am using it as an analogy of you're free will, your mind

 

well in that way... i guess id describe it as: whatever seems right to me, do it

 

Personally, I find the soul to be just the sum of human emotions, intellect, etc. Intellectually, I know that the same goes for the human spirit.

However, doublethink, from 1984, serves me well. I can simultaneously know that the human spirit is ridiculous, yet still believe in it. There's just something about standing on the top of a mountain, gazing out at vast, snow-capped peaks that evokes a certain feeling in you. You might call that feeling your "spirit".

 

Although I don't believe in a conventional soul, I can see it as being my consciousness, feelings, etc. I don't really tend to focus a lot on my feelings I guess. I tend to focus more on knowledge than I do emotions. I see no point in me allowing myself to get worked up over the way the chemicals in my brain are balanced.

 

To me my soul would have to be as you all put it my concious my feelings and my freedom. I cant really sum it up any simpler than that.

 

Soul, to me, crying in pain, in happiness, my love for another person, joy emotion pain, all in one.
