Better server/servers for the site?

I've been noticing that ever since I joined this forum that I usually can't load the page at that time because the server is always too busy? Is there anyways mods or admins could fix this problem?

 

It's ddos attacks and better servers won't help it.

What if it's not the search who's being exploited?

 

Is there a way you could get logs and the IP of whoever is doing it, whois search, show their isp the logs, get the personal info of the ddoser, and sue the hell out of them?

 

It's kind of hard to figure out who exactly is doing it as the person is using a botnet which gives a shitload of different connections at one time. If the person gets a 15k botnet that means we will have 15000 different connections with all different IPs. Last time I talked to Sythe he said he was dealing with a 64k one.

I doubt the search function isn't the problem. Botnets are, as Viny said, it's kind of like ping attacks, except much much much more powerful.

 

Well, ya... now all (or atleast 98%) of us know. So, are the attacks going to keep on coming or are they going to stop??

 

Nope, but sythe will take action. What they are doing is very illegal. When those "kids" get caught they will be arrested and fined heavily.
