I'm a huge fan of Graves. I quit for 2 years and came back and started silver 4 and now I'm gold 4 and kinda looking for a 1 trick. I climbed that whole league playing random stuff to figure out what I like, and Graves is something I could see myself maining. Now the point of the thread. I see jungle Graves' win rate has completely fallen to a crazy low number. This is mainly just master challenger numbers so I haven't checked other numbers so my question is, is it a solid choice to main Graves 99% of games in the jungle? Also, when playing Graves, how should I be positioning and what should I be doing in team fighting? One part of me says 1 shot squishies another part of me says play it like a normal tanky adc.
I wouldn't recommend maining graves, it just really isn't that good anymore. Don't get me wrong, he can completely carry a game on his back but he's just not as reliable as he used to be
He's still really strong and good to 1 trick. He is never banned in lower elos and you can climb with him easily.
And what rank are you? You don't need CC to climb. You want something that can farm, is strong in the meta, and can hard carry. Graves can do all of this.
found the riven main yeah, graves is a good way to climb, afaik, i use to always browse /r/summonerschool and people would always say you can 1 trick all the way to diamond, so I don't see whats stopping you, to prove polarizer is wrong, we see cowsep hit masters with master yi, he has 0 cc. Graves packs a punch to every champion, he excels at damage, team fighting, and tankiness, he is the definition of a good low elo carry imo.
Graves is an excellent carry jungler. He can reliably duel any champion in the late game and has the potential carry out insane 1v5s with Quickdraw. The drawback to Graves, however, is that he is unable to consistently pull off consistent ganks meaning that you'll either have to get lucky with teammates who don't feed or straight up carry them in the late game.
Would you recommend him for people practicing their mechanics and jungler as a role? What low ELO Jungle champions would you recommend for someone trying to get into the position? I want to try it out after playing ADC for a yr.
Mechanics as a jungler are not so important, understanding jungle pathing and map presense are much more so. ATM, I'd say start off with Rek'sai. Mechanically simple and a just a solid champion when it comes to ganking and map presence. If you do want to go for a more mechanically challenging jungler, Nidalee is the one for sure. She's got a steep learning curve and an extremely high skill ceiling but being able to play her well is so rewarding and feelsgoodman. As for Graves, I'd say that Graves is more of a niche pick right now. He really only excels in skirmishes and late game teamfights whereas junglers nowadays look more towards early pressure and snowballing their laners early. He's stillba good low elo pick and I'd recommend him if you aren't dynamic queuing as his solo carry potential is really great.
Thanks man . My D2 brother (Jungler/Mid) also recommended Rek'sai to me. I think that was after I was trying Lee Sin a lot. Unfortunately he's really busy with work nowadays, so I don't get to ask him for help as much as I'd like. I appreciate your advice and knowledge, thanks! I at least have some experience playing Nidalee in ARAM. So I guess you could say pseudo experience haha. Obviously not jungle experience, but I at least know how she works to a degree. That's the approach I took to learning Lucian, Jhin, Draven, and Kalista.
Glad I could help (:. I'm sure you'll get it. All that's really needed is game time and some dedication.
For sure man. I don't take it too seriously (the game) but I'd like to play at a competent level. I feel like Jungler makes you think about the game a lot. I like the pressure ADC's and Junglers face every game.
