What should I upgrade on my pc?

Im running overwatch at mid graphics and its starting to drop fps often.
I also cant run RS3 on max graphics for a long time as it starts to drop fps and not go back up resulting in me putting my graphics done to min.

Can anyone give me any tips as I used to play RS3 on high graphics WHILST playing overwatch on high and this wasnt that long ago.

Upload a picture of your case if you could. Do you have proper airflow? how many intake fans, and are there a bunch of cords/drive bays blocking them? It could be the heatsinks on the motherboard have a terrible thermal paste job from the factory. Remove them and reapply if the issue isn't airflow.

That's throttling, sound like your graphics card is overheating.

If you want to upgrade, i'd go GTX 960 -> GTX 1070 and maybe get an SSD.

 

Sort out the airflow of the mobo before you even think about upgrading man.

Your system specs are decent, the dips you're explaining definitely sound like thermal throttling.

I'd recommend reapplying thermal paste to your cpu/heatsync, checking/adding fans, cleaning your heatsync with compressed air, and tidying up your wires if they're blocking airflow.

Vacuums produce copious amounts of static electricity, and can damage computer components.

They do make/sell vacuums specifically for use with electronic components, but they aren't cheap.

Word to the wise. Don't ever do that again or risk irreparable damages.

Like I said. Make sure fans are operating to specs, ensure you have a proper push/pull (generally any front/side/top fans pull air in, and rear fans push air out), check your heatsync, reapply thermal paste, get some compressed air, blow out your GPU. Clean up your wiring if you haven't already, and if all else fails, you may need to replace/RMA whatever is causing your issues (could be Mobo, cpu, or GPU)

 

The 960 should be a hard card to throttle in normal circumstances especially with the titles you listed, can you give us the exact model of the card?
Also make sure you're capping FPS, no need to be running at above 60 if your monitor doesn't support it.


Tbh the card might just come with a really garbage fan curve that you need to adjust so it doesn't throttle.
This tends to be the case when low power cards throttle because companies think we want silent cards when we game.
