    PS1 on PSP ?

To play a PS1 game on the PSP, you have to have firmware above 3.03. However, this is if you want to "legally" play PS1 games that you have bought using a PS3.

You will probably want to do it the "illegal" way.

To run ripped PS1 games, you need to have custom firmware. So downgrade your PSP to 1.5 then upgrade to 3.40 OE. Rip your PS1 game from the CD, make it into an ISO (or a pbp file), and put it in the ISO folder of your memory stick. If you have a pbp file, you will want to put it in your /PSP/GAME/nameofgame/ folder.

When you play PS1 games on the PSP, it is not actually an emulator. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it is a lot different from an emulator.

    PS1 on PSP ?

If you have PSP firmware 3.40+ theres already a PSX emulator on your firmware, but you can only play the roms you bought from the PlayStation online store which you buy and then download. The PSP just can't run any PSX isos unless your on PSP firmware 1.50 or on a hacked custom firmware running a homebrew PSX emulator.

You don't get it. The built in "emulator" made by Sony is included in firmwares 3.03 and above. The quality of it has improved a lot though since then. With Dark_alex's OE firmware, the certificate utility function have been hacked or modified so that it can run PSX ISOs. All you need to do is put the ISOs in the folder on the root of your memory stick.

Dark_Alex modified it so that it is possible to run isos. That is one of the best things about custom firmware. You can easily change an iso to a pbp file and it will still work the same also.

If it was made by Sony, it'd no doubt run natively. A PSP wouldn't be able to emulate PS1... it can barely emulate SNES :p

Exactly. You have to use frameskip and turn down the audio quality to get SNES games running almost fullspeed. ;)

However, I am pretty amazed at how well the N64 emulator is doing. Super Mario 64 runs really well except for crappy audio.
