What do y'all think about seatbelts?

I really think they can save you in a way and they cannot.

1. Some kids are too small, it won't help people under 4.9" that much. But, anyone over four foot nine would most likely be saved.

2. The clamp where you connect the seat belt to the seat is not that strong. By means, last year there were 2 car crashes where the seat belt popped out. EEK!.

P.S. Booster seats are not a law ever where..In some places your not required to have a booster seat.

Basically..
If you are big enough to wear a seat belt, wear it.
If you don't, you are an idiot and deserve to go flying threw your windshield. It's simple.

Seat belts are very safe for you. If you use them correctly they will save your life. For childrend under 4'9" they use a booster seat to correctly use the safety belt. I think the problem is abusing the safety belt. We watched this video in drivers ed where this guy had his arm wrong on the safety belt he crashed and it showed him dead on the side of the road with his arm ripped off across the highway. Driving on the road is a very scary thing and the safety belt is there to protect you if you use it properly

 

I agree, they do need to invent something better and more reliable than a seatbelt, but untill then what, go without anything? Untill then, you wear the seatbelt, or get a ticket.

I think you shouldn't have to wear a seatbelt. If you die because you didn't wear it then thats your fault. Its just common sense. And if they are dumb enough to not make their kids wear seatbelts then I guess they die too. Thats the harsh cycle of life. Survival of the fittest.

 

2 car crashes out of... what? a million? reaallly slim chance there. It's like riding a bike. there's a chance something breaks and you fall.

To awnser you main question, if I wear a seatbelt or not. Yes I do always wear my seatbelt and I see no reason not to wear it. It doesn't bother you and it saves you life (most times)

Nice poll though, will check on the results in a few days to see how many people are actually wearing seatbelts.

About the poll, you meant to say "where" not "were", I suppose? Kinda confusing, but anyway, they save lives, but arent PERFECT, they still injure you in many cases, better then dying tho?

Definetely not a valid point.. I always wear my seatbelt, and when I have kids you can bet they will as well.

I use them. They save lives plain and simple. This topic is confusing. And if only 2 people died last year from faulty seatbelts (which you claim) out all of the accidents, then I would say they are perfect.

But to answer your question I do believe seat belts are necessary, and I do wear them.

 

Leel, seatbealt's save live's and alsoa problem and kill someone. Think about wearing a seatbealt and your car goe's into water. You panic and try to undo your seatbealt as quickly as you can and can't get it undone.

In my opinion, it should be optional. Yeah I wear a seatbelt, but only so the driver doesn't get in trouble for me.
