    Serious gambling addiction

Okay I have hit the rock bottom again.

Girlfriend moved far away and I have got depressed after that. Today was a really bad day and I lost basically all my money.

I don't know what to do seriously, whenever I get the urge to gamble I can't control it. I hate myself for not being able to control this.

If anyone could suggest me a gambling software that blocks every gambling sites I would be so grateful. I can't pay for such software at the moment so it would have to be free. (or if someone could buy a license I will pay you back.)

I even had terrible feelings to harm myself after losing.

I'm also going to contact someone that I can talk to about this problem. I feel so bad right now, I even got aggressive and threw my phone at a wall breaking it.

Protect Yourself! | K9 Web Protection - Free Internet Filter and Parental Control Software To my belief I think that is free, I haven't researched a ton about the program but give it a check.

Sorry to hear about the girlfriend, that's always a rough time. But staying positive is the best thing you can do maybe by getting a new job meeting some new people something like that never hurts. I'm not saying move on from her but when you find your time open you should fill it with something good. Don't be at home wanting to gamble. Shit, even working a crappy $9 job might not be bad but it's a new environment.

Thanks for help! I installed that software and it seems to block most of the gambling sites. I have tried to look for a job but haven't had any luck unfortunately. For now I'm just trying to be positive now and think of other things to do instead of gambling!

And also, I'm still with my girlfriend but we see like 1 or 2 times each month so the wait is really long. I'm just counting the days. I love my girlfriend and would do anything for her, number 1 thing I have to do now is to stop gambling.

But im sorry to hear all this man. knowing you have a problem is the first step to helping cure your problem. Gambling websites unfortunately are alwaysing going to be there but you can get software that blocks certain sites, but youll just be able bypass it anyways since it is your own computer. i recommend going out and picking up new hobbies. play some pokemon go and takes some walks. a lot of people work through their problems that way, and its very successful so i highly recommend it.

also, if you check out this other person who has overcome their addiction, they are offering advice and time to talk to people. My past gambling problem

Give your money to someone you trust. Your parents, preferably. Allow yourself only enough to live until your next payday. Explain to them that they must not release funds to you under any circumstances until you have your problem under control.

Even if there's a way to block all gambling sites on your computer, I think it's better to attack the route of the problem. This is gonna seem like kind of an off-the-wall suggestion, but in my opinion Alcoholics Anonymous (if that's available where you are) is highly transferrable to all other kinds of addiction. Personally, I don't like it because there's too much religion involved, but if you're a religious guy, my suggestion is to look into that.

I've been to a couple meetings and everyone's super friendly and not judgemental at all. I went for something other than alcoholism, but there was no judgement and everyone understood that alcoholism, drug addiction, sex addiction, gambling addiction, and all other kinds of addiction are basically the same thing. It's something within us, not the substance, game, or act we're doing. There's help out there though. It's easy to get around blocking certain websites on your computer. There are many ways you can log onto a computer somewhere and gamble. Try seaking counseling. It may sound stupid at first, but you'll learn to love it, should you choose to try it out.

    Best of luck man!

Oh, and Island (I think) has a thread in this section with all kinds of useful information for you.

Gambling is incredibly addictive due to its reinforcement model. That makes it difficult to treat.

Describe what happens when you gamble, feel the urge to gamble, and what causes you to have the urge to gamble.

Are you thinking that you can win while gambling? Do certain things trigger your desire to gamble? Do you gamble everything in one go, or do you apportion it? What do you do if you're not gambling? When did you start gambling - how did the addiction come to be?

From what you've said, and from the amounts you've lost, it may be worthwhile to see a professional. Better that money is spent on them than gambled away.

My advice would be consider checking into a gambling rehabilitation center. Also there are numerous gambling addiction hotlines you can call in anonymously

Seek professional support. A gambling addiction is worse than a drug addiction in my personal opinion and just being on the computer to seek advice would give that urge access to just go with it and gamble. Stay away from the computer for a while.
