It's not like its going to hurt you to just believe in a god, if there is a god when you die and you've been dissing him your whole life, you're screwed.

But anyways, if god was really all that great, he wouldn't go condemning people to hell left and right.

Not true. Christians have been commanded to teach, using Jesus as an example. So they have a reason. If there's no God, then this life is meaningless anyhow and there's no harm done.
I can't say that much for atheists who teach.
