Open ban history requirement for 2nd Chance users

The Second Chance opportunity being afforded to those have have been previously banned for scamming and such, should not be taken lightly. I'm not saying users can't change for the better, as I'm sure there will be a few who genuinely have a change of heart; but one requirement should be easy access to their previous history of bans and their reason. It would be like having their "Warnings" tab in their user profile visible to other users. Right now if you want to find out why a user was banned, you basically need to go through hoops to get this information, and usually this info is found in the "Where is x now" thread.

I don't find this requirement unreasonable- you've been graciously afforded a second chance to come back to the site. Of course there is going to be those who oppose this, and I await their reasoning.

Idk tbh if I was staff I'd be scared trying to hunt down all my ban reasons, that'd be one hell of a task & tab.

The amount of work this would take would be ASTRONOMICAL if we were to retroactively add this info to EVERY user.

You don't have the manpower because everyone on staff who did shit left b/c of how fucking aids it's getting.

Also, it's so much less work than you're making it out to be. I can't even begin to get in the mindset of someone who thinks this DNT shit is a good idea and doesn't go against the very foundation of Sythe's policies and values but sure. I'll humor it.

Everyone you're unbanning for DNT already has the ban reason linked and you know why they're being unbanned, otherwise it wouldn't be done, correct? Therefore, consolidating the information and linking it based on userID would take no time at all.

 

We could build out tooling that makes it easier to save a history of ban reasons and evidence for it.

 

I think it'd be easier for new bans being issued, but almost impossible for past bans. One person alone could have multiple scam reports made against them, they could also have dozens of pardons and disputes. It'd take forever just to compile a list of 10 users.

 

If people get a 2nd chance, i feel as if they should be on a clean slate.

 

I'm sure that this has been covered numerous times, seeing as it it in the the Do NOt Suggest Sticky. It would be nigh impossible for the staff team to accomplish such a feat, sir.

This should only be applicable to DNT users with debts. Pardoned users have a clean slate.

Edit: Then again, it doesn't really matter because they are banned from the market.

 

Both for and against this for a few reasons on each side but like has been stated above this would be too hard for every banned user, perhaps it could be done from now on with pardoned users and be applied to all current DNT users but like I said there's still reasons for and against it.

This is just false, they were pardoned because the staff felt they deserved a second chance and they weren't too dangerous to be allowed back into the community. Not because everyone forgot what they did or because everyone should forget what they did.

 

No support. A second chance should be an actual second chance and clean slate in my opinion. Can always PM a mod/admin, use 'where did name here go' thread or simply google the name with Sythe and scammer attached like I always do before trading anyone.

 

The issue is that it isn't a clean slate and not everyone is always aware that the person they're trading is a scammer/ban evader/etc. A lot of older and more market savvy users are used to doing what you've described but newer members aren't. If a new member comes along and gets scammed by someone who was already banned and unbanned or is a ban evader we can say "you should've researched them better", but in all likelihood that's just another new potential member we've lost due to a bad experience with the market.

 

Making newer members aware of the risks and what they should do is an important thing if you ask me and you have a good point there. We should implent something other than 6 stickies per section which new buyers aren't going to read anyway.
