I think you missed the point that the word "God" is a proper noun and is capitalized because of that, not because it exists. Santa Claus' name is capitalized, but sadly, he is imaginary as well.

And I think you missed his point. He never said God was real because it was capitalized. He was more or less just pointing out the grammatical mistake in the topic title "Is god imaginary?".
And you can prove that outcomes are the same how?
You overestimate science. The global state of everything would have to be the control variable in the experiment. Not to mention the variation in the manner and sincerity of the prayer.
So unless you can travel back in time, there is not even a remote chance of being able to prove anything. Therefore, the entirety of your statement has the equivalent scientific validity of me simply saying "God exists".
I hate myself for even reading these threads... -_-

Cussing doesn't make you go to hell. Totally turning away from God and doing bad things and NOT being sorry for them makes you go to hell.

Also, I'm tired of Atheists trying to prove God isn't real with science... it's always science.... Well guess what, we have something called faith. And whenever I say that, the replies are always, "Everything is a coincidence... God doesn't love you... blah blah blah..." They just don't understand that we can believe in something that is denied by science. We CAN have faith.

As I believe dpunk quoted at one point "Faith is a cop-out. If the only way you can accept something is through faith, then you are saying that it cannot be taken on its own merits.".

    Something to that effect, anyway.

I believe without thought of something bringing us here, we would all just give up and die, because if there is no God, then were here for no apparent reason.

    Is god imaginary?

Matthew 15:1:1 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

Matthew 15:17-20: "Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18..but those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19..For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20..These are the things which defile a man:but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man."

Jesus taught in the Bible that when a man curses or uses profanity it is a sign of evil that was in that man's heart. It is popular today for both men and women to curse. They never think of it as an evil condition in their heart, but rather a small thing that everyone does. These small words of cursing the Bible says, will defile the whole man if they are not repented of and stopped. Even Cussing and using the name of the Lord in vain causes one to become defiled according to the Bible.

i think you should read about the total depravity of man
because until you fully understand it(or mostly understand it), the Bible makes no sense

oh btw, i think God is real

    Is god imaginary?

Gah I really cba to show my whole feelings about the subject, but i'll give my over view.

I believe that this "God" Is an Ideal for people to have something to believe, to look up to. Someone who they feel will be able to help them.

God was created by peoples mind because they wanted to have a reason for something. They wanted reasoning, and explaining, so they sought this myth called God.

I mean it is easier if you have a dying relative to pray to god, and hopefully he'll turn out ok.
But it won't be this "God" Making him better or worse.

lol, this is a forum username, not an actual word in the English language. Your sarcasm fails.

No, I spent a fourth of a page explaining what is almost nothing.

    Is god imaginary?

I think that God is real if you believe in him, and hes not real if you don't. God is a great psychological tool for people that have had severe emotional trauma and is a great alternative to drinking a case a beer every night, or drugs. God is great for people who need leaders to guide them, when their isn't always one.

To explain God using science, and to say science is the only true answer, science must come fourth with a "correct" solution for every problem, or every question in this everything.

Answer me the question(s) "Why do you exist?", "What is your purpose in this everything?", "Why are you alive?", "Why do you deny the fact that you could possibly be not alive, and if not, why do you not deny it?" Using science.

I find it very hard to believe The Big Bang theory, because the only lead they have on that is because they thing that the "universe" is continuing to expand.

Think of how random everything is. We are living organisms (What is living?) with 2 arms and 2 legs and 2 eyes, we live on spheres as we call them, and we are part of a Galexy, in a universe that is ever expanding. Out of every different variation that could possibly be, Why did these become our paths?
Out of an infinite number of paths, why this one?

To apply science to a problem, you need a starting point and an ending point, which we have none. You need a starting variable and a pattern, and you need to extrapolate upon that. We can only guess a starting point, and we can only guess an accurate pattern.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I buy that
"God is real, my faith tells me so and theirs nothing you can say about it" junk, but I'm not buying the
"Science says no, and science works for every other little problem out there" either. All I'm saying is keep an open mind, we don't have enough info on this topic to fully get a right or wrong answer yet =).

    Is god imaginary?

First of all: Vidoe was removed.
Second of all: I totaly belive that god is imaginary, there is no proof on him.
A jewish 19 year old just went crazy is all im thinking.
There is no way to proove there is a god or to proove there isnt.
Your kinda have to judge him on it. And most people think god is a male, we dont know if god was a female or a male. God could be a rat or turtle or some besare thing for all we know. And most people say they dont belive in spirits or any of the kind, well then you couldent really belive in god. If he is indeed real then he would most likely be a spirit or something because "he" never helped jesus, when jesus was tryign to proove to his people that he is real and he is "our lord and savour"

I wish, but I haven't had a chance to read any of them in their entirety. I've read excerpts, chapters, and quotes and such, but not the whole ones. My library needs to order some =/

And that explains why agnosticism is the only logical conclusion and puts people who believe or don't believe in God 100% at the same level of ignorance.

    Is god imaginary?

In the Bible it says there are three beings to God: God the Son (Jesus), God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. There is really no possible way to prove that God the Father and the Holy Spirit exist/existed. I personally believe in God. The whole idea of the God and the Bible deals with faith. So you have to believe. Everyone would believe something if they could see it. Thats why Christianity is so special because not everyone believes. Going back to the God the Son. This is Jesus. You can't argue that Jesus wasn't real. Here is some "science" for those who'd rather have it. It comes from this website.

This is some info for the Cosmological Arguement for the existence of God...http://themoorings.org/apologetics/theisticarg/cosmolarg/cosmol.html

Teleological Arguement for existence of God...http://themoorings.org/apologetics/theisticarg/teleoarg/teleo1.html

Here is something calculating a very close estimate to the birth of Jesus.http://themoorings.org/apologetics/chronology/Chrmas.html

Most of you probably will not understand some it but I know there are some very intelligent people.

Actually I can because all those links are from a bible studies website. Automatically biased. Through the years there has been no physical or documented evidence that Jesus (the son of god) actually exsisted. There are mentions of Jesus but now as the son of god.

Wait a few days untill I get my Sam Harris book back from a friend and I will give you some good quotes.

It's not ignorance it's has more to do with science and skepticism.

They do come from a Bible website but the facts are documented if you look at the bottom. Not all of those books are Bible books.
