New Scam - Be On Your Guard!

It has come to my attention that a new scam has arisen. Someone has discovered he/she can mimmick trusted peoples sythe usernames. They do this by registering a new account and using an array of symbols etc which appear to be letters. Check out the following profiles;

The only way to be able to tell the difference between one of these phonies is by observing the person who pmed you

Yea, my new msn is [email protected] as updated on the official mm list.

That's the problem , you ALWAYS should get a pm and this new scamm has kinda weakened that avenue in scamming defence.

It might be wise to limit the types of characters that are considered distinct and thus could be used to create a new account.

EDIT: btw, does anyone know what happened to a lot of the ranks?

Good Find- Suggest that no ones posts how it was done

 

I later posted it in the Dispute Forum earlier, in fact they're special letters and symbols, however not even one person discovered it, but it's impossible to get another user name like that again; that was the only way, so I think I'd be better off telling everyone how it's done, (and no, I'm not the owner of those accounts, even look into it futher for more information), now to explain how this is done, because of vBulletin allows Symbols, letters and Numbers as user names, thats how it's done; for Full_Tilt, they actually replaced the 'i', in his name and replaced it with a upside down, !, everyone just seen it coming anyway. If you make a ! upside down, it looks like 'i', but it's not, the upside down ! is two pixels less then the 'i', so it's easy to notice if you're paying attention to your computer screen, because people just look at the user name who has sent you a Private Message, and then leave it be, until you get robbed, I should consider it's hard if you seen the username in a post, not many people have a ! in their username nor do they have a ! and a upside down ! too, aswell in the user name, what a new discovery, I think there should be someway stopped like, having it censored out in some cases; I believe it's possible via the Administration Panel and only Administrators have access to it, however, I don't believe there's any on, at the moment, someone should contact the Administrators about this problem, unless they've already had.
