[OFFICIAL] Help come up with new STAFF/OMM/HMM/Donor ranks!

WHY ROSETTES THOUGH.

And don't remove global, remove the fact that global numbers equal sectional at some points, we all know they don't do anything overall. It's not even their faults at times, there just isn't shit for global specific tasks.

 

I don't like the ribbons... will make the forums look meh.

 

I think rosettes are the Mod post icon's for threads, it'd keep all the Mods inter-linked.

 

Yes, but that's no excuse. It's just a generic image and could be changed to something new, fun and unique!

I'd personally like to see what most of them look like JayiARTS suggested. with the middle icon as the outside icons. and the rosettes in the middle, perhaps a red version of the Admin crown for Globals?

 

Does have moderator ties. I'm okay with using something else, just need ideas.

 

Yeah, maybe play around with the colors. I just didn't like how the ribbon was the main theme of every rank.

 

I like your flow, i like the minimalism of the ranks, I just think rosettes are too generic, you know?

Don't change Admin/Partyhat and OMM/Dragon SQ ranks, they look good even for a person who is not playing RuneScape. Partyhat is a crown so everyone gets it. Dragon SQ shield represents security, reputation etc.

While a Global/Community/Off Topic/Support Center/Graphics mod - Santa Hat rank should be updated to replace santa hats. However, there should be a vote and only a simple/universal/nice replacements should be used.

On a serious note; Feedback pls. I'm a CScientist not graphics member so that's some nice work for a CScientist like me.

Not too interested in making these myself but I spoke with some people from my design school about this because we like discussing design and here is our collective input if anyone is interested and serious about creating these:

1. Each rank should have an identifier image in the center. The side images should be an unique images tailored to the specific rank. (or vice versa, it was about 60/40 and we had an argument about 2 identifiers to 1 unique, or 1 identifier to 2 uniques) The identifier should show the status of the rank, while the unique image should show the personality of the rank/ where it comes from.

An example interaction would be the following:
- Global Moderator has a star as the middle image, serving as it's identifier. The unique side images would be small globes.
- Market Moderator has a star as the middle image, serving as it's identifier. The unique side images would money bags.
- Official Middleman has a handshake icon as the middle image, serving as it's identifier. The unique side images would money bags.

As you can see, different ranks should have similar traits if they are of the same status or are centered around the same area of the forum. There should be very little to no change between shared icons for separate ranks.

2. The pixel font used in the ranks looks good and maintains the personality of the forum as a game forum. Current ranks also look good because there is continuity between the pixel font and the pixelart icons. I looked through most of the submissions so far and have seen no pixelart, only smooth icons. Because of this, there is a lack of continuity and the icons seem out of place. For example, no circle borders and shit. It doesn't get smoother than that. All icons should be transformed into pixelart, or the font used for all rank names should change.

3. As pertaining to the change itself, we do agree that it should happen. Certain ranks currently don't make as much sense as they could. The Global Mod rank has Santa Hats. The only juxtaposition is the high monetary value of santa hats and the high status of being a global moderator. It could be improved on significantly. Same with OMM. The one of the only ones that is good design-wise is admin imo. That being said, some ranks don't need to be changed.

 

Please don't kill the Nick rank.
