Cars crushed in street racing crackdown[Retarded punishment]

The cars the teens had so meticulously souped up and tricked out were crushed Wednesday as part of a crackdown on illegal street racing in Southern California.

"That's my heart, my dream," said Hoang, 18, of Chino, who was surrounded by friends as his 1998 Acura Integra was put into a compactor. "That's my girlfriend, the love of my life. The cops can crush my car, but they can't crush my memories."


Nearly 1,000 people — drivers and spectators — have been arrested for investigation of street racing activities over the past two years in San Bernardino County alone. Police need a court order to destroy the cars. They must prove that the serial or identification numbers on a vehicle or its parts are removed, altered or destroyed.

Yeah I think its fair because they could end up killing themselves by racing.

thats crazy. crushing a car that a person put thousands of dollars into is just a very unreasonable thing to do

 

I believe it's a very reasonable thing to do, because not only are they putting them selves in danger they're also putting other people in danger.

 

well, I have a few things to mention

1 : they race at night, so they are actually thinking of other people's safety.

2 : They go fast, which is cool.

3 : they still deserve punishment, but not as harsh as getting the cars crushed.

 

I believe the reason for that is so they have less of a chance of getting busted.

What in the hell??? That is fucked up. That is fucking destruction of property. The law enforcement agency should have to pay for every car that they destroy. Some people who race put 1 or $200k under the hood of their car. That is the stupidest shit I've ever heard. Instead of destroying parts of people's lives, how about you get some more competent police?
