How were you first scammed?

Not everyone has been a victim of scamming in RS, but
I remember years ago when I first started playing
Runescape I got scammed at least 2 or 3 times before I wised up.

The first time was back when the GE never existed, and
everyone would crowd around Varrock bank spamming their
buying/selling ads. I was trying to buy 1k lobsters and had been
at it for like an hour. Finally I got a trade request and was just
so ready to hurry up and buy them that I paid full price for 100
instead of 1000 since I wasn't paying attention...

Back then, it was a classic scam to leave a digit out on trades
to really screw someone over.

So, what was your first scam?

 

I was 9 years old and fell victim to those armor trimmers. RIP my addy platebody

 

At the beginning of osrs I got scammed with regular staves instead of battle staves, oh well

 

I staked for a noted striped pirate shirt rather than an Easter egg in 2011.

More recently a well known lurer/x-er/scammer befriended me for months with the sole purpose to gain my trust through many small-medium sized deals/flips that he staged and eventually hit me for a few bil through a ge scam.

 

back in 2009 i trusted a guy my rune because he wanted to trim it for me <.<
i waited for 3 hours on the location he told me before I understood what happened.

 

When I was really young I tried doing the doubling money scam. I ended up making like 1.5m from it which was a huge amount for me at the time. I felt really bad about it though. Then I fell for a lure in the wild w my ~1.7m bank :/

 

It's hard to believe that there are still people falling for this one everyday. But, I guess there are always fresh noobs waiting.

 

Yep, armor trimming for me as well. GF to 9 year old me and my black armor set.

 

Cant remember. Probably gave something to someone asking to 'borrow' something. As I was very naief as a 11 y/o.

What I do remember is that after I had been scammed as a 11 y/o I started spamming "Selling my account 5k" in the Draynor Village bank, bank was made.

 

I was lured out into wild. They would drop something "party hat etc" I went out to go pick it up. Lost h ween mask set and basically my bank. It sucked.

Armour trimming at lumbridge w1 l0l.

 

Guy promised to trim my mithril armour back when I was around 11 years old. Took me way to long to realize that he was not coming back.
