    Being a Critic - your how-to guide

The word critic comes from the Greek κριτικός, kritikós - one who discerns, which itself arises from the Ancient Greek word κριτής, krités, meaning a person who offers reasoned judgement or analysis, value judgement, interpretation, or observation.

The above being an extract from the website Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia.

We here at User Education, and the regular members, have to dish out criticism on a daily basis, whether it be in the applications forum, or just generally around the forum, but it has come to the attention of myself and a few others that most of you do not know how to give criticism, or better yet, constructive criticism.

Criticism requires you to analyze the information held by, in this case, a person's application, the guides within it, and the reason behind the application then relaying your opinion as to what is wrong with it. Constructive criticism is the analysis of information help within a person's application, the guides within, and the reason behind the application, then relaying your opinion as to what is wrong with the application but also as to how the application can be improved, taking into account the person's feelings, how much time and effort was put into it, and anything else shown in the application.

Steps on how to constructively criticize an application:

-Read then re-read the application, taking measures to ensure you understand the application, and the meanings within.

-Think to yourself, "What can be improved in this application?"

-Write down your thoughts on the application

-Group your thoughts on the application into "Constructive" and "Maybe considered mean/harsh", from here consider what you would feel if someone said these things to you.

-From this point you should simply type what you feel would be good criticism and would help the person to improve in their guides, and applications.

Please, think about what you say when you reply to a person's application, and offer constructive criticism where you can, and try to refrain from flaming the applicants (I have managed to refrain from flaming almost completely, so you can do the same.).

    Thanks,
    TDD

Please note: This information can be used outside of offering criticism to the applications, try using it in daily life, you may like it, and others may like you more ;)

    Well, before berson4 posts:

"Useless TDD, we all know this. User Education sucks. Who cares.. Your life is gay if you take the time to do this"

    kidding :D.

Anyways, I had posted something MUCH smaller than this a while back, but I like yours better. Worthy of a sticky in applications, and in here. Good writing.

Oh, and Six.. before you say something like "I wasn't the one that made this, so it's not good enough", think about it bub ;).

EDIT: Deacon got in before me =/

I think Deacon posted something about this a while ago. I said i delete all posts that are flaming someone's application. When i do read the applications i do give constructive critisim unless they ripped it, then they get flamed ;)

    But yes, good idea.

Care to sticky here and in applications forum (I'll repost there, but it'd be changed so it includes everyone)? and maybe close this after sticky?
