i'm sorry, but i truly belive what sythe said was true when the members of cdt just keep recycling the same four competitions. nobody gives a fuck about pictures. this is a gaming forum and people want server side and programming related stuff like bots etc. stop acting like you care about the community when Sythe is the one actually developing it.

 

Clearly you're a hypocrite, and have a lack of understanding to collate your own viewpoint and opinions rather then blindly following an irrational thought as a result of what happened yday. CDT aren't just here for competitions. Clearly you don't realise that.
You just told Tyler the picture competition is doing good. Yet you say nobody gives a fk? Please don't be a hypocrite, I can't take you seriously.

uhhh i was being sarcastic about the picture competition...not sure if serious...and you're right CDT aren't here for the competitions, most are just there for the status and ranks. i cannot argue with you, steve. your competitions are voted on privately and so are the winners of those competitions. the community should be able to decide. also the cdt single handedly lost 1k for jon's parents. that itself should make everyone responsible demoted.

I've only been in CDT since 3rd July, I think everyone's forgotten that. I can only do so much with the information I know currently. But again if you have feedback and want to see a change then please post it on our feedback thread. Perhaps we can incorporate it. Also please don't sit there and assume I don't care about the community, I didn't join the CDT because I don't care for the community. That would be hypocritical of me.

Also just for your information, I'd be more then happy for my application to be public to show that. I'll look into it.

 

If you cared about the community you wouldn't be so shitty towards the DNT users who are now part of our community. That would be very hypocritical of you. Anyways, my honest opinion is that the CDT needs an overhaul. You need actual skilled people (not saying that's me), but people with programming skills and server management skills to improve the community. Making half assed contests every month won't grow or develop any community. But if you want to think that these competitions grow the community, then keep being deluded, I guess.

 

My view on DNT's pretty much stays in SF, yeh you know where you're allowed to troll. I joined just after DNT was released, on the hopes that I could put my views aside to better incorporate the decision to let DNTs into the community. I personally enjoy the events, I know a fair few people do as well. With the help of PR and Technology Core, all three dev teams can work together to promote a better well-being.

Again your under the allusion that CDT only produce competitions.

 

u mean made 6.8k? there would have been no $$$$ to lose if we didn't attempt to rally the sythe community to assist a family in need. i hope u realize that jon was a member of the cdt and so were some of his very close friends which is why some members were so passionate and emotionally driven during this event. am i defending what happened? no. am i saying we messed up? yeah. i think TTB hits it home here at the end of this quote:

legit dude people have been begging for servers for years (Sythe.org Servers) and nothing has been done until now. some things cant come from solely from the community, even if we do have the technical capabilities. we've never been able to label anything as sythe official until now which is a pretty huge fucking deal when it comes to thinking whether or not it's even worth investing hours into getting something setup so we can drive traffic to this site. n4n0 made a cs server after that thread I linked above was made but failed fairly quickly iirc.

it seems as if we are now having a new team to focus on these technical advances to create more of a reason for members to join this site (thank fucking god about time) and the cdt will continue to do what we've been doing and attempt to create a warm community in which we hope members will want to stay in (hopefully coming from the users drawn in by the PR and Tech efforts) by participating in events, winning miniranks, prizes etc. together ontop of the other things that we try to d

 

@FlyingToast The money issue was a big fuck up though. Even though a lot of money was raised 1,000$ is not a laughing matter especially when medical costs have to be taken care of. It's true that they still get a lot of money, which is great, however usually when these kinds of things happen there needs to be change in the incompetence and it shouldn't be shrugged off.

As for CDT events, I personally like some of them, but over the three years I've been here, I noticed that most of them are not very active unless there is some HUGE cash prize involved (like the Bogla sponsored Christmas event). Also other events put on by CDT are just raffle events or signature advertising events (the last LoL event comes to mind) and serves no real fun purpose. It's just a reason for CDT to say "yup, we're doing some events, even though they are half assed".

Technical events should be the main focus of any gaming community development team. Look how many new members are part of the Pokemon GO discussion just because Richard took the initiative to advertise his spoofer. At any given time, there were hundreds of guests and active members and there still are. These are the kinds of things we need to grow this community. We don't need anymore raffles (unless it's for a good cause), signature advertisement events, or picture contests to grow and hone this community. We need things that are genuinely useful and fun.

 

After reading this cluster fuck of a thread. I gotta say, props for @video for being transparent about all that went down and for taking time out to write this lengthy essay. It shows who fucked up and who were the guys that's willing to take a loss for the greater good. They're willing to compromise for the mistake of others. Props to @Bogla and @Time To Buy for handling this situation like a champ. You are generous motherfuckers, god bless you.

Well, considering I was accepted into the CDT not much more than a week ago, I would say that you should reflect on what you type before you post it. There has been no indication that anyone scammed anything while trying to raise money for Jon's family. I will say that yes, it could have been handled better, but for you to say that the CDT are "lowlife scammers" is borderline spiteful and inflammatory. Sorry, but what you said here is just wrong.

 

Maybe that came out wrong, but I wasn't referring to the people in CDT when I said lowlife scammers. I was actually referring to people that come on this site to merely scam, not you guys lol. Sorry if that came out wrong.

So @JayiARTS you're comparing scammers who come here to scam, compared to heroic actions that Dave, TTB, Video have/are doing. Totally understand why that aggravates you. It's just a good thing Jon had amazing friends.
