I am going to buy "BenQ XL2411Z 144 Hz 24 inch Gaming Monitor" . What are your guys thoughts on this monitor, is it worth buying or nah?
It is ideal for FPS games like Counter-Strike, but its color quality is low-par due to the 1080p and size. Although, the 24-inch monitor might look better. I have the 27-inch BenQ XL, and it's the best monitor I've ever had for gaming. The problem is coloring compared to other 1440p+ monitors. I would suggest trying to find a screen with 100+ Hz and 1440p for around the same price.
I bought the exact monitor in December refurbished through BenQ and absolutely LOVE it. If you can find it for a good price I'd say jump on it 100%. It uses the exact panel that the Asus VG248 uses, Acer's 24 inch 144hz monitor uses, and also the same panel as the newer BenQ XL2430. Only difference between all of them is the internal software (really how it looks / behaves with different color profiles) and the stand itself. You'll notice when you get it that everything does appear a bit white-washed. It's not a problem with the monitor as much as a side-effect from 144 Hz refresh rate. Once you spend a a few minutes downloading the recommended .iso files as well as messing around with a few settings you can get everything to look rich with only minor losses in color. The fact that you're looking at things at 144 FPS compared to 60 makes it WELL worth it, even for general web-browsing.
For those of you complaining about the colors of these 144hz monitors, I highly recommend you do a little research regarding the setup of ICC Color profiles. Properly configuring color profiles/video card settings/monitor settings can drastically improve the picture quality. I use 3x Asus VG248QE 144hz monitors, and without the customized settings the colors are very washed out. After some tweaks, the colors and the picture pops.
Thanks for the advice. Changing the settings does drastically improve the picture quality, yet it won't ever match the 100% RGB or the visual quality of a 1440p monitor. A few months ago, I spent a lot of time trying to make my BenQ XL2720Z's image better, but it is possible that I do not have it set up correctly. They released a new version of the XL2720Z with a higher resolution. It is 1440p, 1ms, and 144hz. I would still suggest grabbing a higher resolution monitor, even with the possibility of increasing color quality on 1080p.
Would it make a difference if you ran that monitor at 1080p though? It's quite a jump in GPU requirements from 1080 -> 1440 and I'd say make sure your PC can handle both 1440p and 144 Hz before you drop so much on a monitor. I have a 970 and personally I wouldn't be able to run games at 1440p above 60 FPS so a monitor like that wouldn't be very useful to me unless these panels looked better at 1080.
Yes, it would make a difference in visual appeal by moving up to 1440p. I'm only making observations on my previous experiences. He wasn't sure if that monitor is worth purchasing, but it depends on his expectations. Personally, I would never buy that monitor because I would want a 1440p at that price point. Also, I agree he needs to make sure his computer can handle it. That is crucial; I forgot to mention that in my previous post.
